Use of the term "Story" to describe what's "Reported" on the show

One of the things i've recently noticed on C2CAM is the use of the term "Story" to describe everything that anyone "reports" on the show, as if the people calling in are reporters in the field and the guests (particularly short, first hour guests) discussing their various topics, Noory will often use the term "story" or "report" to describe it.

I'm not sure if this bothers anyone else, but the regularization of the term (which was rarely used by Art or even really Punnett, Knapp, Siegel, Strieber, or Simpson) really gets to me. It's like anything that is on the show is being presented as a "breaking news story" being reported. There are some instances where this is appropriate, but the term has become broadened to near-meaninglessness.

Perhaps, and this is purely conjecture, there is a bit of honesty in noory. Maybe he has some small amount of cognitive dissonance when using a term like information. Since information suggests some semblance fact, and much of what is "reported" has no merit to call it information causes a problem for noory.  Nah I don't think so either.

I think it's mostly about Noory actually thinking of himself as a journalist, all evidence to the contrary. He may have been one years ago, but now he's just a sad joke of a talk show host, even when dealing with breaking news. He lives for the chance to 'report' something all the cable TV shows are jabbering about. I wonder if he ever thinks of the show prep he must have actually had to do back in his TV days ?

You are SO on point here, stevesh.  I constantly pick up on signs that this is what GN really wants to be.  And, in keeping with the times we live in, being a tv or radio "journalist" in many cases allows free rein to get across one's own biases and beliefs.  Need I say more?  :)
