Well the difference here is you don't have any influence or significance in how George conducts his show or his methods. Do you see how that works sir?

     Arrgh...Someone forgot to flush...this turd's back

We are working on it, bro.  JustOneFix says he wants to start a simple blogspot to post the reasons why an advertiser might not want to be associated with Noory.    The sponsors are the key.

I'm all for this - if this really matters to us enough, we need to take it out of the relatively confined context of CG.  then again, this will all take time - and i get this feeling that c2c is just going to move on ad show us their asses -

Oh Wait, they do that most nights!

i think this would be a monumental waste of time and would achieve nothing.

Thanks for the tip a much better view.

have you rooted your droid x?  have you installed the SUPER amazing liberty rom?  you'll get far more speed and far more battery life out of it.  it rips all of the motorola shit out of the phone and just leaves you with clean android (plus some liberty rom tweaks).  i highly recommend it, and can provide instructions if you like.

George sucks

There were 730 lurkers when I signed off last night. Don't know if that's higher than usual.

So, where to go with this? How to get Noory gone? And is it worth it? I have my own ideas on how to get him outed and have posted them. I just don't have the time to get so involved in something as managing a movement. And don't fault anyone else in the least if they don't either.

Had fun with the thread and the show last night! Noory didn't apologize I read. What a slug.

George sucks

Oh, and the General nailed it. He predicted no apology, nothing, zip, nadda.

No I haven't rooted my phone. I am probably over phoned, if you get my meaning. I use my phone for gps, sometimes for a mp3 player, but mostly just for two medical applications to reference meds and lab values.

Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I use the droid to the level you probably do. Most days I only use it for less than 15 minutes total.

I like it- you go first, Lunger, and return and report.  Call tonight and we'll all be listening!  Oh- and have your computer on so you can post live and tell us how many screeners you get, how long you wait, etc.

START A FAUX CHAT THREAD called LUNGER CALLING TONIGHT and we'll hang with you.  I'll be out of town but once everyone is asleep, there I'll be, walleyed as usual...

Anagrammy

I will give it a shot.  Esp if they are taking calls the first hour.  if not...  then Friday for sure!

/Hey!  I gotta get up at 5:30.  Feed the cats and go to work.

If Beck, Savage, Hannity, or Limbaugh had said that, Media Matters would have been all over it.  I don't like Media Matters, but apparently MEDIA only MATTERS when a host they hate says something they don't like.

Why in the world would George apologize to you people?
I'm starting to feel like a bit of a Noory apologist, a role I never, ever thought I would play.  But I have to agree.  After seeing Anagrammy's first post about George comparing Bin Laden to Jesus, I fired up streamlink and listened to George for the first (intentional) time in years.

And I just don't see what all the outrage is about on this one.  Was he the usual ham handed guy, who struggles to make simple points clearly?  You bet.  For a guy who is in the business of communications, he sure struggles to communicate clearly.  But I agree with his response to a forum member here, and with Lisa Lyon's e-mails.  Killing the head of a "movement" doesn't necessarily end the movement, and sometimes makes it stronger.

More to the point, it seems that we have folks here who listen to him religiously, for the sole purpose of hearing his (admittedly many) faux pas, and pouncing on them here like pitbulls on raw steak.  Based on the outrage I read on Coastgab, from forum members I respect by the way, I was expecting a "John Lennon compares Beatles to Jesus" kind of moment.  In a way, I got just that. It's just that members here came down on the same side as the folks who burned Beatles albums.

(And good lord, I guess that means I just compared George Noory to John Lennon.  I am gonna need lots of GuildNavigator's medicine to make peace with that)

Soros funded Media Matters is myopic, lead by an unstable creature(David Brock) who takes his cudgel only to famous right wingers, with a preference for those with a connection to Fox/Murdoch. Soros and Murdoch are basically globalists who put up a big stink about their differences, but ultimately have the same CFR type goals. Both are loathsome bastards,IMO.

It might, but they said the same thing about the automobile. Besides, if I can start up a little something and it has an effect it will feel good. Not unlike telling people not to go to a certain bar because they serve warm beer and watered down drinks.

Okay, I do get your point, and I have heard the clip.  I do admit to finding it less shocking that I thought I would, but still tacky, inappropriate, and thoughtless. Yes, it was a metaphor for the execution of a leader sometimes spurring a movement on, rather than killing it. But there are other examples, even better examples, which are less hot-button and have a less grating quality when juxtaposed. And for me, the fact that Noory is prone to this kind of awkwardness makes it worse, not better. But I said all that in my email - and posted the rough draft here in this thread.

The John Lennon example is interesting  because it was taken totally out of context at the time - and your comparison to our reaction here apt. If I recall correctly, Lennon stated (after arriving at a US airport to be greeted by a mob of shrieking fans) "we're more popular than Jesus" - deliberate hyperbole to express how intense the moment had been. Of course - since The Beatles were the new Elvis - the ones who were going to lead our youth astray - it was all too easy to reinterpret that as "he thinks they are better than Jesus"

I'm glad you posted, because a number of things today have made me want to work harder on engaging my own brain before opening my mouth, or hitting "post" or "send."  The universe may be trying to tell me something.

anagrammy

All kidding aside for a minute (and only a minute), this forum provides community for a group of people who lost their community when Art left.  And unlike the passing of the torch in other societal settings, this torch was passed to a person who asked, "What's the torch for?" and had to have it explained to him what the phrase "passing the torch means."  And it has been so ever since the day Noory first spit on a Premiere microphone.

It doesn't matter if CoastGab is "effective" because it's main purpose is giving me and people like me a place in cyberspace to gripe, share info, post music and hang out and unwind.  It isn't everybody's cup of tea no more than each of the people that peek in here are everybody's cup of tea.  And plenty of people enjoy hanging with us and just listening to the banter-- last night was a great example of that.

And don't think for a minute these cyber space buddies aren't real friendships.  I have been to conferences and seen posters stand up and identify themselves as their logons and other people run to hug them and these people know each other.  Last night Ev and I and Guerilla Unreal were the last dogs standing at the end of the Nooryfest. People who will come to a make-believe party awaiting an apology that we all really know is never coming and cracking jokes while we are all doing other things (I was FINALLY filing those old papers I've had in to-be-filed stack since 2001, eating ice cream, and posting).

So if somebody wants to set up a blog, fine.  If not, fine. I'm just not going to do it.  I'll call sponsors because it will be fund to call or write and then report back here what the response is.   As long as I'm enjoying myself, I really don't care if it's with Coast and Art or with CoastGab and Noory, capisce? (did I finally get that spelling right....lol)

Yes, ana, and i laughed like a fool most of that time - something I needed badly.  I'm not unhappy - just dealing with a number of matters that take serious consideration.  Letting my hair down last night though early morning was a GREAT.

now it seems that the stream is up, and Michael and I will be on live tonight.  I'm an old lady - after LAST night - I'm gonna need a nap!

Well, yeeehaaa! An Irishman has an voice!

Is it 'Protestant' evangelism, or 'Catholic' evanglism?

The answer is blowin' in the wind!

Let me, or you, or any of us common, non-book-writin' folk voice an
opinion:
depends if you git in on an 'open lines' or in response to some 'book writin''
fool.

Guess, our 'voice' will boil down to purchase.  Us goin' up to some
'amazon' or some other 'book' resource.

Here's a 'priest': Patrick Heron, yeah! Fer sure!  He knows it all!

Let's all eat 'Host' together!  Representing what Heron deems essence,
most high, god, and all!

Meanwhile, what we do and what we reveal by actions: being lovingkind,
just, fair, whatever we feel to move us to make and do: nothing important
unless we take a heron as our 'sign'.

I'm thinking I'd rather have a 'chia pet'.

Hey All,

I set up a new thread for tonight--see it under HOSTS:  FRIDAY NIGHT COUNTDOWN - Roswell Leftovers

Ana

Roger

Okay, I did have to cut and paste to reply to two excellent remarks: first
one by Aldousburbank somewhere else:

""We need to get to the root cause of what is causing this and combat it
and fight it whatever way we can."

"This would have been something I could have wholeheartedly agreed with
George about, had he been talking about his sucky little radio show.
Otherwise, notice that even when placed in context, Noory's statement
signifies nothing but horseshit.  Same as it ever was.  This guy sucks so bad that it sometimes makes me
exceedingly happy to say that he does.  It's a beautiful thing."

That summarizes the joy of this-here web-'sites' or pages.

Then something EVB said:

"Any segment, indeed any INDIVIDUAL in a customer base (in this case listeners) should have some influence.  these numbers may have changed, but last time i
took a marketing class the conventional wisdom was to assume that for every ONE letter of complaint received ONE HUNDRED people felt the same but did not
bother to write."

I doubt the ratio given by EVB's source.  I think the unpublished and
popular like-sentiments of any 'voicer/writer/caller' to any public venue
is much greater.

The internet and web-loguing or 'blogging' is the answer to the editing
that was intransigent heretofore in print-media . . . often biased to
letters agreeing with the editorial perviewer, stated policy or political
leaning, or publishing the varients or 'off-the-wall' few as if justifying
the restriction of voice by public-readership.

It would be interesting to see a collection of 'rejected' letters-to-the-editor
of any major paper in the past (that might have been preserved) and see
what articulate, cogent, and pointed critiques got into the 'circular'
file-cabinet.

Persistance pays off.

I saw Ana's posting about the new-thread, and am anxious to go there and
read what others might have noticed about that.  I didn't listen but to
the last few minutes. Wondered if I'd missed anything deep.  Then, hearing
a remark by George, I gagged.

should be funny.
