Haven't seen Avatar yet but I've been hearing a good deal about the futuristic technology involved in its making.  My daughter went the first day it showed here and with five minutes left ....... (read on this is not a spoiler) ....... a strange spot appeared in the middle of the screen.  And it got bigger and bigger until the movie stopped and the lights came on.  It seems the most advanced movie ever made had been burned and melted by the projector -- 1950's style.

The audience received a cash refund.

This happened to me when I went to see Independence Day.
Just as they were about to shoot the missiles at the ship a second time while flying the jets the spot appeared and it melted. I thought at first it was part of the show, they fixed it right quick but we still got a refund as well.
