Dietrich is totally wrong about the M47 Dragon system. The missile is optically tracked and the wire guidance range is 1,000 meters (not hundreds of feet).

The weapon was replaced by the Javelin in the late 1990's. Live rounds were expensive, but each Dragon Platoon was allowed 5 live rounds per year. Dietrich did not mention that the system used for training was the LET (Launch effects trainer), which was an electronic simulator connected to the tracker.

The night tracker was a piece of crap and 3 times the size of the day tracker.
