Politics / Re: Bernie Sanders 2016 Thread
February 16, 2016, 03:24:29 AM
Bernie is the only candidate who can save the US from losing its sovereignty.  Nobody here can understand the truth of this until they learn about the centralization of the world's banks, a Global Domination strategy which has largely been enabled by elites here and around the world.  Until you take the time and effort to understand the world banking system, and what this does to the largest industrial nations including the US, you cannot intelligently comment on superficial labels that just tend to separate people, which the superrich LOVE to do, while they rob us blind.  One good way to learn is to listen to a podcast available on CBC radio's "The Current" with Anna Maria Tremonti.   CBC tends to give more scholarly and professional information to the public than anything done in the US, and on a variety of subjects.  It is silly and puerile to dismiss Sanders with simplistic labels.  I support his agenda because he is so much like the leaders we had long ago when I could go to a doctor for $2, stay in a hospital 2 days for about $75, and not pay huge money for pharmaceuticals.  People who laugh at Bernie now have no idea how much they are being ripped off every day by their wealthy overlords, and make the vast majority of Americans more miserable than they used to be.

I had the idea Art would like to occasionally host but he would too easily upstage George Noory and make him look sillier than he already seems.  Art always asked smart questions and to the point.  Art was always on top of the subjects he asked about and never caught being clueless.  I really took it to heart when Art lost Ramona and I worried about him.  It is so gratifying that he can be happy and comfortable in his advancing years and that he gave a forum for so many people like Michio Kaku and Linda Moulton Howe.  He helped get us away from the tyranny of constant political bickering that had broken out since the 80's.  I hope that Art and his new family can have many happy years together.

I just joined Bellgab today, but listened to Art Bell since sometime in the mid 1990's, even though most places, it was from a long distance away.  We also don't do Facebook, having privacy concerns.  Both my wife and I are NOT happy with the inane interviewing style of George Noory, who at first seemed quite a decent replacement but later seemed to go downhill in his understanding or openness to more scientific concepts.  There are more stations now, and I think a lot more women like to call in probably because George is very nice to women in general.  Mainly we listen to George Noory because my wife likes to listen to far out theories of stuff for amusement and for chuckles.  We get easy laughs from mispronounced words and names, etc., and fall asleep quickly every night to the talk knowing we haven't usually missed much.  Except we both like Linda Moulton Howe.  So the beat goes on....

Politics / Re: Commie sign-in thread

I am not a Communist.  I could be considered something of a Socialist because I like Social Security, like most people do as they approach retirement age.  I also like Medicare, because it's the most dependable and efficient health care system available to us.  It's too bad we can't all get it.  Unlike Canada, Americans (we norteamericanos) pay more per capita for healthcare costs by far than do people in any other industrialized country.  This is because private health insurance skims a lot of money off the top before it goes to actual health care, and because the way THEY make money tends to be from DENYING claims for care.   (I learned the hard way, when my 4 health insurance policies failed to cover me when I was in Canada.)

But Canadian health care saved my life.  It would have been essentially free for me if I were a citizen.  I nearly went bankrupt thanks to lousy American health care insurance.  I am also supposed to have total coverage by the VA, but they won't cover me if I'm out of the country either.  So much for that.  The VA used to cover ALL veterans AND their families, but over the years these benefits have been chiseled away little by little, starting with Republicans under Nixon, but ongoing year after year.   And now, I have a neighbor, an elderly woman whose husband, a WW2 combat veteran just lost his battle with cancer, and she has health problems that really require in-home periodic nursing care, but which she does herself because of the ongoing heavy expense of private home care.  The demonstrable result is that we Americans now have a lifespan of about 2 years less than other countries, and have the largest number of homeless children, whose future potential is diminished by the inadequately nutritional diet they need for their young brains to develop normally.  Investing in our future leaders ought to be a worthwhile endeavor, but it isn't happening.

People go on about giving up our freedom, but really WHOSE freedom?  How free are people who, when they should be recovering from illness, instead have to be fighting their insurance company over how these huge bills are going to be paid?!!?  And will they lose their home while they're still sick?  The whole thing strikes at the whole immoral system that allows such a thing.

I am a Bernie Sanders supporter, and was a long time Art Bell listener.  I still miss JFK, that former Senator who became a very influential President despite less than 3 years in office; Bernie is a lot like JFK was: intrepid, unafraid to face down the Soviets during the Cuban Missile crisis of October, 1962.   JFK had the advantage of wealthy parents who got their kids interested in politics at an early age, and could afford private schooling.  Bernie has had to grow up in poor conditions, an immigrant family, yet has gone toe to toe with the power structure, the bullies who now dominate our media to an extent unprecedented in modern history.  Bernie follows a great tradition that would be recognized by Minnesotans of years ago when the legendary Floyd B. Olson, who helped start the Democratic Farmer/Labor party in the early 1900's did so in order to avoid being called Communist by these same GOP characters who gain election points just by defaming their opponents, the same old ad hoc attacks on people's reputations rather than the issues that the PEOPLE dare about.   The people who rail against "socialism" really are just channeling the same old GOP scorched earth talk that has gone on for over 100 years just to try and keep the people scared.  It's the same kind of talk Joe McCarthy used when he went after people like Humphrey Bogart, Lloyd Bridges, many others who believed that their political beliefs were NOT anybody else's business, especially not HUAC.  Bernie represents the PEOPLE's last chance to try and stay free of foreign Corporate domination, rigged by the TPP to even supersede our own laws.  There is a lot to know, and few ways to find out about it in this new Dark Age, the slow strangling of our free speech in the US and in the world.
