You can do it from an iPad. Just choose "Choose File" and it will let you select a file from one of your albums. See screen grab below

p.s. It does have to be one of the file types that you can upload as an attachment.

FYI: Go to the Sub Menu, Choose "Profile"...

Choose "Modify Profile"...

Choose "Personalized Picture"...

Choose "Upload an avatar"...

(Have a Picture as an "640 x 480" .JPG chosen from your personal library) ...

Then choose that "Picture"...

Simple process...
