I would say that one show is in the ICU on some pretty extensive life support.  The other show departed Rampart 2 week ago and looks to be in pretty good health.

What are vey-gas odds on Heather making it back on the air?

# Seemingly Slim.
# Even less so with the name MitD.
# I could be wrong.

Thanks, Bart! Appreciate it!
If I haven't commented yet, this was enjoyable!  Drop the Heather stuff and submit it to George Noory's emerging artists series 😀

Great find.

"Police raided the business, which they believed was used to make porn films but which in fact sold singles the chance to videotape themselves for viewing by potential dates. "

Art obviously kept the juicy tapes in the cuckshed.

I've always been drawn to dead resort, malls & amusement park photos. Mainly in Japan but the one that sticks in my mind most is the Catskills.  https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-ghost-hotels-of-the-catskills  I just picked that link because it was at the top of the list.

So cool and freaky. Like a ghetto version of 'the Shining'.

That could so be a feature film. 'Shining... in the ghetto'. Like 'Leprechaun in the Hood'. Set it at some graffitied up resort. A Bellgab production (financed by the Chinese... and Heather Wade).

It is rumored that it took him 3 mirrors and a green screen to take that picture with his own SLR.

The intro sequence with Art is great, never played it beyond that, I should probably revisit sometime too.

i like playing old games because i can crank the graphics up all the way and know my machine is going to handle it with ease.

You can watch the YouTube video with the calls that Art takes for the game.   They are pretry funny,  on a Phil Hendrie kind of level.

Ignorance is bliss. To me, all Art Bell will ever be is the guy that got me interested in foo fighters and bigfootses, so many years ago.

Art, wherever you are. Thanks!

I'm sorry, I keep floating in and out with my boring self. I found this article from 1999 that talks about Art Bell suing and a bit about his studio being used to film for the dating site. Granted, it's from the Washington Post, but I thought it was interesting.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1999/05/29/the-resolved-mystery-of-art-bell/e3e69bd3-3c23-4c39-9836-22b863f43e6e/?utm_term=.2b6469b47ce1
This article makes Art look pretty good. It simply describes Art's business as a "video dating service" nothing about swingers or anything perverse. Also, does anyone know what the genesis of the beef between Oates and Bell was? Why would guests on his program get sufficiently angry to devote such a great amount of time and resources to attacking Art?

I got a lappy with that new Intel / AMD Vega Kaby Lake chip, because fuck gpu prices. Plays Witcher 3 on high, and somehow doesn't sound like a busy airport.

I believe the story is that Oates was on the air with Art one night and presented several reverse speech examples (along with Oates' own analysis and interpretation) that Art thought were too subjective.  Art decided to terminate the interview.  Shortly thereafter, Oates began producing reverse speech examples of Art himself and used the results to slander Art.  I think that's how it all happened.

I could be wrong.

That is the article that I'm talking about. However, after reading it I can't find any mention of what started the dispute between Art and Oates. I still notice that he (Oates) still appears on Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis from time to time.

He has been on C2C a lot with Noory including right when MITD started up. Art banned him for life when the lawsuit was filed. That didn’t stop Noory from booking him.

Chad Jacobs

Has there been any empirical analysis that endorses the validity of reverse speech?  The shows about reverse speech seem to spend a great deal of time listening to reverse speech with very little explanation as to reasons to believe it is valid.

Yep, he's even done a couple in studio TIKO. Seems he'd fit in there in Portland.

Not that it matters, but Oates was the first person I interviewed when I began podcasting in 2006.  I can't remember if I was aware of his Art Bell drama at the time.  Those old shows are lost forever.  Wouldn't mind going back and hearing it.
