Can I get a synopsis or link regarding the aforementioned hypothetical "filter"?

It's a simple idea really, that there's something inherent in any civilization, human or otherwise, which is some kind of great hurdle that most don't cross.  Could be environmental collapse, or war, or an asteroid impact, or maybe some high-level alien watchers exterminate any that get too advanced like ming the merciless does in flash gordon.

I've always been a B-Body kinda guy:

Might have seen it before, but my first car was a 66 Barracuda that looked like this without the racing stripes.

It was totaled when I bought it at age 14 but only had about 15,000 miles. I paid $75 for it and did almost all the body work on it myself at my dad's used car lot. He had his body man give it a lacquer paint job for my 16th birthday present. Wish I still had it.

Actually I was just poking fun at WAN to see if I could get a rise out of him. Where I live, brand loyalty is a huge thing. Bar fights have started over it. But, they all have their good and bad points. :)
lol I know what you mean. Where I used to live in Texas they would dang near run you off the road if you didn't drive a Chevy.

I see so a filter to prevent us from finding life. How would it work? How would they know what frequencies to filter?

actually that's a cool idea but i don't think I explained it well.  I'm mesmerized by PG's gifs.  Basically the idea of the Great Filter is it's some kind of moment that every advanced civilization goes through in it's development, and for whatever reason most don't survive past it, so they get 'filtered' out before we can find them.   :(

Yes, go check out the Flat Earth Debate with Amy if you haven't heard it at dreadcentral.com. Very entertaining.

And for some reason they are selling well (credit)

jeeps were never meant to have 4 doors, Bluetooth and navigation. I just want a inline 6 and a decent 5 speed and a hole in the floor so i can hose it out.

Where I graduated HS in Texas, if you ordered a Coke, you usually got Dr. Pepper. Or they would ask you "what kind?"

Just got back from Michigan.  It was refreshing to hear it referred to as "Pop" again.  Soda is something that
comes in an Arm and Hammer box

Haven't decided on that yet. Most likely replays and maybe a mix of other shows. I need to talk to Amy about what she wants to do about replays during the down time.

Awesome!  We did have this conversation in the past and like I said before "Hell.  I wish you still had it too".
