Last from me for now.

Another Canadian band I generally like.  It's country rock, but I don't know if Akwilly will like it.

The Stampeders "Carry Me"  I like a number of Stampeders songs, but they also did "Sweet City Woman" which I find to be one of the most grating songs of all time.

I had no idea until yesterday that "A Country Boy Can Survive" was released way back in 82.  I thought the release in 2007 was brand new.

Forgot another great (in my opinion, Akwilly) Canadian country song.

Neil Young and the Shocking Pinks covering Neil Young's own song "Wonderin'"

One more from me for now.  I don't think Akwilly likes this one (sorry) but this was one of the biggest hits of the late 1970s country rock era.
I think this was the song that made me a big fan of country rock and then later traditional (real) country music.
For those who don't remember this song, you may remember thinking it was called "Looking for Love (In all the Wrong Places)"

From the Urban Cowboy soundtrack. "Looking for Love" by Johnny Lee

I prefer Buckwheat's version: Wookin Pa Nub  ;)

Stevie and then some nostalgia

Well, he is from the South but Stevie is straight up blues, not country.  ;)

Hmm...Young has had a number of songs that i suppose could be considered country but you pick a Doo Wop song. Curious.  ???

The back up singers are singing Doo Wop but I think the rest of the song is country.  Maybe I should have listened to it again.

They're not a real band (I think they're professional wrestlers) but their philosophy is spot on.  There's also "some people call it Hip Hop, but I call it Shit Hop."

First country rock song I ever heard at around the age of five, and a massive #1 pop hit.  Glen Campbell "Rhinestone Cowboy"  Also one of my favorite songs.

My favorite of his but I love all of his music including his work as a session player for the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean.

No, the song is doowop.  Sure there are some country tinges but they are not predominant.  The melody of Wonderin's is certainly not country but a form of early rock.  I have the cd.  The whole album is early rock and roll style.

Yes, wikipedia calls it rockabilly.  Sorry, I like the song, but I shouldn't have posted it here.

True. It's a fusion of the two, I suppose. I like Neil Young. He was one of the first guys to get behind Devo, who actually do at least allude to a country song in this:

I posted the Marty Robbins version of this earlier but, as great as it is, I think I have to give the winning edge to Connie Smith's version. Great vocal and some really great Travis picking throughout:

Shit, he practically invented country music along with the Carter Family.  Well maybe they didn't invent it but they popularized it.

I don't think Akwilly will like these, but hopefully he will.
