If you received a 100 million dollar grant to replace Art who would you hire?

I really don't think there is a replacement to be had but three radio personalities come to mind for different reasons.
a.  Michael Savage:  Although, he focuses upon vastly different subject matter his engaging style of telling stories from his life (such as when he was a botanist in the South Pacific) perhaps reminds me the most of Art. Although, he is far more contentious, he is also a skilled interviewer.
b.  George Knapp:  Although he lacks the same engaging "personal dynamic" in talking about his personal life especially in microcosm as Art or Savage he is perhaps an even better interviewer than than either. Plus, he tends to become highly educated in whatever subject matter he is discussing (a fact which is facilitated by the fact that he only does a couple shows per month).
c.  Dave Schrader (but mainly on his own show not as much when he is on C2C) has a good deal of Art's ability to make you feel like you know him personally by discussing elements of his life often in an engaging manner.  Indeed, sometimes his humor is downright hilarious especially when Tim gets involved in the discussion.  He is a good, but not transcendent interviewer as Art and Knapp can often manage to be. Before Art came back I wrote Dave S. and told him that I thought his show would eventually rival that of C2C.  Like Knapp he has a good knowledge base of the subject matter, but lacks the gravitas of Art, Knapp, or Savage in my opinion. However, personally I love the guy and consider him to be a terrific host and good person.
d.  Larry King circa the 1980's:  I can still remember as a child being forced to listen to his interviews on the radio all night when we went camping as we often did (because my dad slept with the radio on all night).  The thing was I would often find myself engaged even though the topics were ones which otherwise  would not have been  much interest to me.  Now that I think about it the same could be said of King's replacement host Jim Bohannon.

If I was given 100 million dollars, it wouldn't be put into any radio host. Anyone who gave anyone that money for that purpose needs psychiatric help.

What if Superman and the Road Runner got into a fight?
That's a topic I'd like to see explored please. Superman has his skillset but the Road Runner...whoah...that's pretty heavy-duty.

Soylentblue

Steve Warner (if he could post semi-regularly), George Knapp or Bill Birnes.

Me, of course. I could handle the criticism for a week or two and walk away.

Laughing all the way to the bank.

And then I would contact Keith and Heather and give them a bonus for putting up with all the shit most of you dish out.

Finally, I wouod send Art Bell the biggest thank you card I could find.

That'd be awesome, in between the political rhetoric we'd be regaled with stories of eating at garbage Chinese food joints while having epiphanies about life as an old curmudgeon who doesn't matter anymore.

*Edit: Actually take out the rhetoric part and we wouldn't be too far off from what we had before.

Gravity Sucks.  He'd bail and we'd split the $100M.

If nominated, I will not run.
If elected I will not serve... Until the check clears.

No worries, the check will be drawn on the Sawtooth National Bank.  They all know me there.

He's actually a funny & interesting guy to listen to.  He must have a load of restraint to confine his speaking during their act to stuff like providing MoFo's voice.  Before I heard him I'd guessed maybe he was a foreigner who'd taught Latin & Greek because his English wasn't so good.

After an off-B'way show of theirs (it was after the West Side Arts Theater but before they were actually on B'way, despite their claim that the theater they were in was), I bought a video off him.  I asked one he must get a million times, "Why are you called Teller when you don't tell us anything?"  He just said, "I tell ya plenty."  So I gather he's not a quick wit, or maybe just tires of it.

Josh Gates from Destination Truth on M-F.

Let Redacted/Heather handle the weekends w/ Steve Quayle doing a show every few months to keep the juices flowing.

Oh and Superman totally crushes the Road Runner

Agree. Or it's just as well to let Penn do the talking.  Have you seen "Tim's Vermeer"?

I loved Josh on Destination Truth, but not as much on his new show. I preferred the stronger paranormal emphasis of the original and the banter among the crew missing from the new show.  Also, Gates despite his experiences is a fairly hard skeptic of most if not all things paranormal. I love his show on Sci Fi  though one of my all time favorites.

For me, Knapp without a doubt.  Someone who can (Sirius, I'm looking at you since you tried this once) needs to pony up to give him whatever it takes to get him to commit to doing a late night radio show full time.

George Knapp and a girl we "know" is hot. Heather is at least 250.

Give Knapp 5 million
Give Chris Jericho 5 million
Give Art 4 million for doing weekends
Give Alvarez 1 million
Give Bateman 1 million
Give Rollye James 1 million
Give MV 1 million
Give Falkie 1 million
Create a pool of 1 million for guest and rookie host/shows to rotate in and out of the network
Keep 80 million for myself for being brilliant

Kongfish

I hire myself, that loot, fire myself, & head to Palm Beach, with all my NEW Friends. Then hire the guy Anthony patch, or the guy that did the watchers series.
