how long has your play through been? 2 or 3 months now right?

Yep, I'm slow though, I meander alot.  Plus now I'm playing Skyrim again, which isn't helping.

Finished off A Link Between Worlds. Loved the special power, but I wish the maps weren't the same as in the SNES game. It felt like more of a rehash than a completely fresh outing.
8.5/10

Next on to New Super Mario Bros 2. :)

Please bear with me, I'm old and sometimes cantankerous. Big fan of Witcher3  and that style of game so I followed reviews and just started Fallout4. Never having played other versions of Fallout, The usual resistance sets in. Not a big fan of 1st person shooters because I'm slow, could be the pain meds I'm on, don't know, don't care. Like I said, not a spring chicken..... Is there hope that I will grow attached to this game? And most of all, how do I turn the friggin flashlight off?.... ::)

Hold the tab key for a second or two.

If your not into shooters, fallout might not be your game. There is a good deal of the game is discovery, but unless you shoot the discovery part doesn't happen. Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 are two of my favorite games. Nothing since Ultimate 7 has been as much fun. Most games any more are "twitchy", maybe it has always been that way.

Atari or Intellivision?

I want to play Mass Effect 1&2 which I picked up on Steam sale.  However now I see the combat is squad-based.  I dislike having to micro-manage others.  Is there any way to just automate what they do (kind of like companions in Fallout NV)?

They do their own thing on their own, ive never gave them any orders in any of my play throughs, check in the game options settings, from what i remember it even automates their power ups etc.

Oh cool, thought I had to boss 'em around.  If I can just basically ignore them we'll get along fine.   ;)

Yeah I started a couple months ago, still waiting to load into the commonwealth.

Is anyone interested in a Nintendo GameCube, barely used, with controllers and a few games?  I had one for my daughter when we she was a kid. She didn't use it much. All I would ask for is like $30 to cover the cost and hassle of packing it up and shipping it.

If so, PM me, and I will try and come up with a picture of what controllers/games I have for it.

Your only forced in the first missions of both games, but its basically just to teach you how to do it, you're going to have fun, and just some fyi your game saves follow you all through all the 3 games, so your decisions in mass effect 1 , effect the outcomes of things in mass effect 2 and 3.

The first thing we had when I was a little kid was a comador 64. It came with a cassett tape game of Buck Rogers. I never got the darn thing to work.

Atari  8)

Yeah, me too. Though there were some cool games for the Intellivision too. A friend had one in high school and the baseball game was fun and and even had voices, which was a big thing back then  ;)

So what were the big Atari games for you? Back then Missile Command, Sky Diver, Space Invaders and the Pong collection they called Video Olympics were the ones I tended to play the most. I've since come to really appreciate some others that I never got a chance to play back then like Air Raiders, Warlords and Yar's Revenge.

I was hooked on Air-Sea Battle.  It was weirdly hypnotic.

I'll mention Frogger first because that's the first game I made it to the end and beat.  :)   I was into Pit Fall, Centipede, Missile Command, Pac Man, Combat, Donkey Kong (which I came close to mastering),  Space Invaders, and the 'Real Sports' games they came out with.  When you hit a home run in baseball it was the most annoying sound.  ;D  I LOVED Defender in the arcades but the Atari version sucked.  I had Yar's Revenge too and was terrible at it.  :P  ;)  I had sooo many games. I can't remember them all.  My grandmother had a monthly subscription for games.  Kind of like Columbia House.  You'd get one game a month for whatever cost it was.  Anyway....What is the worst game you played?  For me it was Riddle of the Sphinx.  I could never figure that out.

Oh shit!  I forgot about that one.  I sucked at that too.  ;D

Combat

loved that one too (did that come free w/ the console?)

Same with Berserk.  I loved that game "Kill the Human.  Kill it!" but Atari one was lame.

I miss the days of mall kiosks that sold 3.5 floppies for next to nothing. It was always an adventure to find a fun game.

I remember discovering Archon: The Light and the Dark. I spent hours being transfixed.

Atari was good at coming up with simple yet compelling games in their day. Sky Diver and Human Canonball were like that for me  :D

I've only played that one more recently on an emu but pretty quickly abandoned it in confusion too. For some 2600 games you really need to read the manual, I guess. Atari pretty much created the video game industry and then almost killed it with a glut of bad games,  In terms of bad taste there were some porno games released for the 2600. The most offensive is probably Custer's Revenge, in which you, playing Custer with a raging hard on, must avoid arrows in an attempt to make it across the screen to rape an Indian squaw tied to a post. It's racist, sexist, in poor taste and really not that much fun to play after you get over the "shock" factor.

I'm one of those people who actually bought ET and after falling in a hole repeatedly, promptly returned it. Another game I returned that people now have a lot of nostalgic love for was Adventure. While I liked the concept (which is why I bought it) I thought the execution was lacking, to say the least. I mean, the dragons looked like ducks...DUCKS  ::)  :P  Anyway, I'm now aware that it contains the first Easter egg and all but I just couldn't (and still can't) get into it. Games like these were the predecessors of the RPG and, unfortunately, I've yet to find one that really grabs me. I say unfortunately because I know that the people who like them REALLY like them and will often wax poetically about them but I've just never been able to connect. Maybe I'm missing that part of my brain in the way a serial killer is missing empathy? I don't know.

BTW, there is a "fixed" version of the ET ROM out there in which you don't fall in the holes so easily, for anyone who still wants to try playing it.  ;)

P.S. Atari did have a great version of Frogger. It was almost identical looking to the arcade but it was the one made by Parker Bros. and not Atari though.
