Art had the sense of leverage on his side.  He was the one letting you call in and talk if you had something interesting to say.  He wasn't too eager, hoping that you might fill some time etc.  It's basic singles-bar dynamics.

Maybe.  Or maybe she just doesn't have such a good sense of what's interesting.  I never liked open-topic phone-in shows much, but Art Bell was able to make them entertaining.

Art was in radio for decades and actually knows how to socialize with people. Art can carry on a conversation brilliantly. Heather sounds like she has social anxiety and she struggles like crazy. Like I've said before, you can literally hear her train of thought as she tries to talk.
