Please tell me wtf is the point of having Seth on AGAIN?   Did he tell us something new? No. Has SETI discovered ET? No. It was pointless.

Yeah he did tell us "something new", mostly about the Tabby's star developments. It'll be awhile before ETs are discovered probably, unless they land on the White House lawn.

NDT could of course..easily fill a 5 hour show lol

No not 5 hours. I don't think anyone should go that long as a guest, personally.  I guess I was referring to the previous format and not the up-and-coming.

you could say that really about most guests lol

True.  Did you catch on Monday where Heather said "we normally don't have fiction authors on the show?"  Lol

Yes you're right.  He told us they don't know what it is.  Riveting.

Give it a listen sometime.  Maybe you aren't a fan of science.  I like hearing about how they're doing the searches and methods employed and the debates about whether to actively send signals or not.

It's a whole hell of a lot better than listening to some whacked out lady claiming to have a personal relationship with bigfoot in her backyard.  Or how many anal probes Whitley has taken.  Riveting.

Right again.  It's all useless bullshit.  Seeing a trend here?  Add in some hushed "wows" and a few dozen "I'm Heather Wades" and you've got yourself a show!

5 hours is absurd. Art could pull it off in the 90s because he's Art and was talking to millions of people in any given week. Heather is talking to maybe 1000. There's just no audience for it. It'll be an endurance test for both host and audience, and I don't see it lasting more than a couple weeks before they have to drop it back to 3 hours or she completely implodes. It's just utterly pointless.

As a host how hard is it?

I honestly don't think there will be an implosion.  It'll just end up being uninteresting & people won't listen.

Well mines about half mast because I was glancing a pics of Alyssa Milano circa 1995 a few minutes ago.  But normally I'm pretty unexcited at this time of night.

I could even imagine the emotional intensity of going up, performing for five hours and then coming down again for five nights a week. That would completely fuck up a normal person I'd imagine. Heather going on baked the last few weeks is a sign she's not coping well.

It kind of works for the End of Days guys but normally by the end of the show they're so baked that they lose their train of thought lol

As a DJ it's not bad, as a talk host, god help you. There's also no point to it. It's not like affiliates needed an extra 2 hours to fill, there was absolutely no demand, from anyone, for a 5 hour show. Radio is always better when it's tighter.

Even people on this thread during the show aren't listening much. They mainly seem to be chatting. So my question is, what happens around here after the initial three hours? I kind of doubt very many people will want to hang out for another two hours.

And at what point might Heather realize that "hey I'm talking to myself here, nobody's listening"? By the fifth hour, she could be down to a couple of dozen listeners (active streams, that is, not necessarily listeners) with zero callers. At a certain point, it gets pretty hard to deny the reality that you're in a disaster zone, even in the MITD Twilight Zone.

The thing about winning gold at the Special Olympics is that at the end of the day you're still retarded.

And there's that too. Doing a nightly show 5 days a week (properly) requires a ton of prep. That's what you're doing with your day. Art wasn't kidding when he said if you do a daily show, it's your life. You can't loosely prep a 3 hour show, let alone 5. What happens if a guest sucks and has to be dumped in hour 2? 3+ hours of open lines? 5 hour open lines shows on Fridays? Christ almighty. She's got one thing working in her favor, and that's that she's on the west coast. To do 12-5am here would turn me into a fucking maniac. It's not like you can go to bed at 5:01, you're in bed at like 7 or 8. You begin to understand why a lot of radio guys self medicate. Heavily.

K_Dubb

If I remember right, in the old days Art did the first hour alone, talking about the news.  Then the guest came on and may or may not have been kept until the end of the show.  Whatever was left was open lines.

There should be a 24/7 All Rods channel.  I'm sure Jose thinks so. It could be on SiriusXM, Rods Nation.
