Heather did a fine job tonight. Is it just  me, or does it sound like she is getting more and more comfortable with this gig every night?

It's just you.

She did sound good.  Hey man, she has talent.  It's gonna show through.

I'll have some of what you all who think Heather is listenable are having. She still sounds like the same empty headed hack I heard on day one.

It's not just you, FTF.

I don't understand all the negativity I read here when Heather is obviously being coached by Art (how many others have had that benefit?), and it shows.  She said tonight she's running her own boards.  Sure sounds to me like Art is in the background, training her from the ground up.

I love the way she's calmed down her original tendency to giggly reactions and now sounds serious when needed and yet still sounds very pleasant.  She's also caught on very quickly about how to deal with callers. At first she sounded like Sucker City, but I notice the trolls have evidently found her a worthy opponent and are mostly leaving her alone.

I give her an "A," because I actually look forward to midnight weekdays again.  Didn't think that was gonna happen any time soon when Art fell off his horse ... again.

Edit: I'm drinking Coke Zero, if that's important.  ::)

She's always painfully vague and secretive, which is fine if you're trying to stay private on a message board, but as the host of the show we want to relate to her.  She is fundamentally not willing to have a relationship with the listener.  Time for them to try someone else out.

Yes, although she may be hoping that it comes off as mysterious and even seductive -- the "mystery woman." I got very tired of this routine when she first took over the show. She strikes me as a tease and a bad one, which also makes her a bore. Which goes to your point about her not wanting to have a relationship. It's just very, very odd. But it's good for MV, because I'd much rather shake my head over her than listen to her.

Thank you for the edit. Yes, it's important. I was afraid there was something in the water.

Ah, that's why I pay so much in taxes.  So we can have a surplus.  The state/fed gov should always be just a cunt hair away fm broke.  They should always be coming to me hat in hand rather than imperiously demanding more tribute.

Good point. The government should never be making a profit. The goal should be to break even.

I was sooooooo looking forward to this interview...
(Redacted), if you read this, please let us know if you have re-scheduled him.

Oh she'll let us know....at the end of a show after hyping it for 3 hours lol.

Hey hey! Lets make this a happy fun thread! No bashing each other tonight! Lets all laugh together and hope the callers are fun and hilarious.

Having skimmed the last dozens of pages since this was posted...  all I can say is:

Does he ever find it? Looks cool, good reviews too.

I dunno.  I haven't finished it, but so far, there is one good theory that he is pursuing, but it might not be what you expect.

I listened for an hour or so last night and by rough count, 3 of 4 open line callers were seriously if not dangerously delusional.  HW just coasted along, patronizing their fairly obvious affliction as entertainment for her audience.  If this is where MITD is headed, its not just bad radio/webcasting; its f'ing sick.

Meh.  It's more fun than a re-run.  And you never know when an intriguing nugget will pop up, like the guy who talked about the cover-up of a WMD cleanup operation (around NYC, iirc) - I just wish that Heather had asked that guy some follow-up questions; people need to hear about the use of cover stories in the media...Americans are incredibly naive about that stuff.

Just a thought. Did anyone find out if J.C died? Yes, I'm fully aware of the he's real/not real we've had in threads here for years. But, if I recall, didn't Art bring it up or suggest on a show back in July?

No, Phil Hendrie is alive and well.

The jerk who told the bogus story about the black-eyed children really annoyed me - he was obviously faking from word "go" and I'm sure he's called in before.

Art frequently let the crazies elaborate on their warped worldviews.  On one hand I think it makes them feel better to have someone inquire about their madness, and on the other sometimes it can be interesting.  But sometimes when it was clearly concerning, he'd draw the line and advise them about getting help - that's a tricky move though; he had built a strong sense of trust and respect with his audience over years, and was totally in command at the mic, so even loons listened to him.  Heather's a lot younger and doesn't have that level of command yet, so she has to handle things more gently.

The best thing to do is call in.  The more of us who call in with real stories and/or thoughtful, sane comments, the lower the crackpot ratio will be.

This is very Seinfeldian, in a perverse way. Like the final episode: Hey, look at the fat guy getting mugged... Don't think he'll be able to run far... That's a shame.

Trouble too is, she's humorless. Has Heather displayed any evidence of a sense of humor? And I don't mean the ability to ridicule a pathetic caller.

J.C., whoever the hell he is, did call Art since he's been doing MITD.

That said, for those who think JC is actually Phil Hendrie, I posted somewhere on here not that long ago about googling "JC disgustated", and coming up with two forum posts from 2008.. on an audio forum.  Both posts sounded EXACTLY like the JC who would call Art.  Same emphasis on words, etc..

I googled just now and found my post:

Too bad JC doesn't post on social media.  His "disgustating" drivel would be much more entertaining.

Speaking of which.. I just googled the words "JD disgustating" (yes, with the typo).  I wonder if this isn't JC posting on the internet, back in 2008:

LMFAO that has to be JC.   How sad- I guess we'll never hear him go off on Art Bell again!

It's just a theory, no proof exists. It would be funny if JC was him, though. Him and Art are old friends.

None.  Bell has a wry and dark sense of humor exactly right for the material.  His most recent classic was the caller who said he'd call for a fair catch on an incoming nuke. Art realized instantly that it was brilliant.  I think Heather would have reacted the same way Kaku did when Art reprised it; i.e. not.  Humor is a talent, you've got it or you don't.

That fair catch comment was great, and Art responded to it with his classic dark sense of humor.
