Agreed.  If there was ever a time for him to hop back into the chair, even briefly, this would be it.

I don't hink Art likes football.

stenjay

Man, I kind of hope that it ends up being neither the football player nor the show runner, and it's just some guy pretending, shittily, to be Chris Carter of the X-Files.

"Yeah, and the other thing we're going to do is see what that one cigarette guy is up to now.  Yeah, that's the ticket.  And he is, um, going to, um, get into a car chase - yeah, a car chase - with Muller and Shelly.  And, remember the time with the black ooze?  That was pretty awesome."

I would have loved to hear Art interview Chris Carter.

C2C, October 26, 1999 - it's in The Ultimate Art Bell Collection.

stenjay

One of my favorite things from the first X-Files movie was the hilariously dumb tagline on the poster: "This year take your greatest fear and multiply it by X."  What in the hell is that supposed to actually mean?

Bradsmith313

This is going to be a great show.

I bet RCH is gnashing his teeth. Because, I remember him saying that he wants to talk to Chris carter and share his "ideas" for the new X-Files.

I wonder if he'll call in tonight . . . .

He's probably one of those guys who has a script featuring an embattled and unsung lone genius who sees through an elaborate government plot to keep The Truth from The People, and is ultimately vindicated at the end when he lands on Mars in a torsion-field-and-accutron-propelled spacecraft of his own making to discover an ancient bicycle with three handle bars.

God.
That would be a lame episode . . . .

Hype an announcement all show and then it doesn't even happen. The only thing that could even save face would be if Art is the one doing open lines.

Kudos to Heather for what I think *was* a big score (I know not everyone agrees).. but I wonder if he thought he was getting Art Bell? I hope not. That would be lame.  ::)

I know some of us were hoping we'd get Art.  At least some night.

No it wouldn't be lame, it would be perfectly legitimate. When it was originally scheduled, Art was the host.

Really? I had no idea.   :'(
(That does make more sense, though)

Maybe Chris didn't know that Art quit, and thats why he bailed. Nothing that happens surprises me anymore when it comes to this show. Damn trainwreck to be honest. Hype up a guest, guest bails. Eh. Guess its a Netflix night..

bellNwhistle

My husband thinks that they probably knew well before now that he cancelled (due to Art not being the host anymore), but that they didn't say anything til now, to keep the listeners tuned in..  the only problem with that (as I see it) is that they only announced him as a guest yesterday or this morning, right?  I'm married to a shit stirrer. lol

Correct, they schedule the guests ahead of time and then announce it same day generally speaking. MiTD has done that for a while. Someone like Chris Carter, you have to schedule that way in advance.

She didn't announce it until the end of the show. Tell your husband that sometimes a rock is a rock.

If he didn't know Art quit, then we don't want him. Where has he been?  What's he been doing?

Ef him I say.

Or maybe Hoagland called him and sabotaged the whole thing.

Carter is busier than a one-armed paper hanger. It would not surprise me if he did not know Art hung up the mic.

Wasn't he supposed to be on with Hoagie in the first place? How did he get booked on MITD?

I'd laugh so hard if Carter ended up being a surprise guest on Hoaxie tonight.

Yeah, I'd put a couple bucks on that one. LOL

Perhaps Chris got a new idea for a show and is hard at work on it before the memory fades.  A new Perry Mason episode with paranormal overtones.  "The Case of The Missing Talk Show Host."

I can think of 19.5 reasons why that could possibly commence.

and why wouldn't Chris go on his show? Dude's already interviewed Dean Haglund. Why stop there? Get the whole gang in for an interview!

I kept thinking maybe Dave stole him. That would suck.

I'll tell you what. One retainer sent to Gertie and I'll bet Perry could call Paul and one of Drake's Las Vegas operatives would not only catch the intruder but track down the missing talk show host quicker than Della could finish the dictation on the Perry's motion disputing the non-compete.

I agree, no reason Chris wouldn't be on OSOM. Tonight is Stephen Bassett and it should be a great show. However, I am eastern time and can never be up to listen.
