Agreed. She should apologize to Noory because she is exactly like him. She gets it.

To everyone saying they can't wait for open lines: it's gonna be the same mouth breathers who've been calling every other night, not people calling to roast the guest like we actually want.

You know what?  I fell asleep before you posted that, but I'm sure your right, so I will move on to Hoagie with my morning cup of coffee.  Maybe I will listen to the rest of this later....maybe not.

I haven't listened yet, But it sounds like

1.) the guest sucked
2.) Heather limited callers

I would imagine after all the shit happening on here, Heather didn't want to have a bunch of disgruntled "fans" calling in to bitch about Art quitting.  Did she address what happened at all?

The good thing for Heather is that the fans on FB in the MITD groups are all very much in support of her. Will it be enough? I don't know.  The show will sink or swim. I think MITD would have a better shot (no offense to Heather) if Keith had a guest host fill in, even once a week. At this point, I don't even care if it's Art.

Right now, I'm listening to Hoagie first, I might come back to catch the callers into this show after that........but yeah, I'm hanging in with hopes something different will happen with this show.  I like Heather a lot, but I'm not a fan of her show.  I like all the bellgabbers, but I don't like all their shows.  I'm like TigerLilly, I'm giving it another 2 weeks, and if nothing changes, I will cancell my subscription to this show.  I have another show in mind I would like to use the 5 bucks to support instead.

Well done last night, Heather. I was quite pleased.

:-\listened for a few minutes to tonight's guest with Heather Wade and couldn't take it. His info about the giants is interesting, but in general he comes off as uneducated and opinionated rather than scientific. Credentials do not necessarily prove someone to be credible and some without credentials have shown themselves to be professional and authoritative.  But this guy's lack of them is apparent in his presentation. Hope she has a better guest tomorrow.

Would agree that the fellow lacked any fundamental scientific understanding. However, I thought, for the 30 minutes I listened, Heather was engaged in an entertaining conversation. To add, if we are looking for science with subject matter that includes giants and an only 6000 year old earth, we will probably be disappointed.

Yup - the internet changed the whole game.  Now it takes 30 seconds to check out someone's credibility and claims.  It takes suspension of disbelief out of the equation.  There are still some sharp people in ufology and paranormal research, but only a handful remain relevant in the information age.

But with science pretty much dipping into mystical realms - invisibility cloaks and metamaterials, quantum mechanics experiments that defy our classical understanding of matter and energy, superheavy element synthesis on the shores of the island of stability, unforeseen theoretical advancements in general relativity, etc., there's a vast new realm of real science to explore and wonder over.

It's insane to me that great scientific minds still don't a platform to keep us abreast of all these developments.  Someone, please, bring it on.
Well said.

Show sucked... Not necessarily heather's fault but I would've stopped that guy at every bullshit comment and made him expand on it until he realized I was bullshit checking his bullshit.  Some
Guests just don't deserve airtime.

It's a difficult situation. The way Art used to handle it was by leaving the listener to figure out what was really going on, and drop a few hints along the way with suggestive bumper music or the odd incredulous exclamation. He realised that he couldn't go after many guests or he would get a reputation as a prick and people wouldn't want to go on the show. I didn't hear the show, but I have heard the guest before, and he is just another one of those shifty Bible-thumpers who try to make the facts fit in with their beliefs. When you have heard him once he will say the same stuff over and over, like Steve Quayle. Heather has far less room to manoeuvre to start with: she's an unknown quantity who must struggle to get many guests at all, and can't come straight out and tell one of the few she has that he's a delirious asswipe. I don't think you can blame her for not putting the smackdown on him, however lame he was.

I agree but you can still steer him in one direction and not let him go off on tangents

.......aright, listening to the second half of the show that I missed last night now.

Fair enough. I haven't heard it yet, so perhaps I should before I make any more comments. Inexperience is obviously a big part of this, which is why it's such a big ask of someone to fill Art's shoes who has had no prior background in broadcasting. However intelligent/informed/ witty you are, if you are unused to being on the air you are going to struggle to make an impression and all your better qualities will get swamped because you are only a novice. If she had been allowed to do something  on her own on the DMRN then perhaps she would be in a better position to avoid all of the pitfalls. Learning on the job is never going to be easy and people will run out of patience before too long.

Taco Bell

For you Zep fans, if you have not yet looked into the band Them Crooked Vultures, do so. It's JPJ with Josh Homme (Kyuss/Queens of the Stone Age) and Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters). Album was released 5 years ago or so....pretty solid, JPJ still has it.

Wintermute

I listened... again... hoping to hear something better. It sounded like her intros and outros from breaks were MUCH better. But like many have said, her guest was an idiot and she was feeding him rather than asking questions that probed even a little deeper than general agreement. And agreeing with an idiot, by proxy, makes the host an idiot.

I've typed it before; The majority of guests are fakes and misguided. All of them are "guests" on "your" show so YOU need to go after them in a challenging yet respectful manner. Otherwise you are a Snorry clone that isn't taking naps in-between dead air.

It sounded like she was hoping for that, perhaps.. but it wasn't working out. Maybe it was that the timing just wasn't right for her.  But in June, MV was already calling her a star. (Probably because she was already slated to do the first show with Art? I honestly have no idea, because I didn't even know she existed until just before MITD started).  It really would have been a good idea for Art (who clearly realized nobody was happy with him doing a show with a co-host) to simply have her take over a show here and there.  Maybe he needed a night off. Nobody would have faulted him for that. People still might not have "dug" her, but they'd at least have a chance to get used to her voice and style, and she'd probably be doing better by now, too. (She's still new to this, so I'm not suggesting she's "bad". She's just still getting the hang of it, and she'd have loads of on-air interviews under her belt by now).  Of course it is what it is, and we can't go back.   :-\

Ok, I just finished listening to the second half of the show. She thanked everybody who makes the show happen.  She mentioned Keith, Amy, Peter, and Art,  but she forgot to mention bellgab and MV.  lols.

Praise MV!

Oh, and she forgot to mention subscribers.  8)

I doubt she "forgot" to mention BellGab. I'm going to guess that was deliberate.

Perhaps, she'll thank both of them, later.  ;)

I usually love nut cases. Such guests were always part of Art Bell's repertoire. Some of his CLASSIC shows involved guests spewing absolute nonsense. Art always made such guests fun by his guestions, tone of voice, and bumper music.  What bothered me tremendously about the show with LA Marzulli (the preacher who lives in Malibu....so I guess he is making good money from his schtick) is that Heather enthusiastically supported him. As one post said, instead of asking probing questions, she spent the entire interview FEEDING HIM with supporting arguments.

This show was the type of thing I expect on a Christian broadcast network show (like Hagmann and Hagmann).

Heather did everything short of praying aloud with him on the air! Having a nut case guest is great fun, but adoringly supporting their insanity is NOT fun.

Heather, if you browse through these posts, STOP the adoring parochial school girl act!  >:(

Be eternally grateful that she didn't thank the Southern Baptist Church! (Marzulli is a Baptist minister)

It's like her first guest, who claimed to be a time traveler. As was reported on FB, the same exact guy friended her on FB (or possibly one of the groups) right after that show. He's about half my age.  ::)

I unsubscribed. MV is right, there are other shows out there for free. Nothing against Heather, but I paid to listen to Art. This whole thing has become such a mess. But.....the bellgab forum has never been better. My opinion on Art has changed drastically since this unfolded. The guy is turning his back on the fans that supported him for so long. I guess ill go and listen to Clye Lewis argue with his callers or something.
