I don't have that technical expertise.  You will have to tell me and others how that is done.

Keith lets ME be ME and he supports what I do or I wouldn't have agreed to take on the project.  We have mutual respect.

I didn't mean to sound as though I thought that Kieth had control of you the way that Art apparently had control of (Redacted).  Art kind of made it sound like he would monitor the board and let her know if it was alright to return...

I just picture Keith offering well meaning advice such as "I would stay the hell away from that place."  I don't know if that would be good or bad advice.  This place can be a little rough- at the same time, I think that most of us have some respect for anybody who not only puts themselves out there on radio, but then opens themselves up to criticism here.

I was curious which way it would swing when you first posted here and started MITD.  I know I had mentioned in the past that I was probably not your biggest fan on Coast.  I didn't dislike the job you did- but I never timed my weekends by your appearance (that is reserved for Knapp.)  I was wondering if this place would collectively turn on you... I should also mention that I had not ever heard you on your own shows- just coast (I assume that your own shows are very well done as well... You seem to have had a fairly good following here.)*

It seems to have turned out well.  If you ever did a gabcast, and I were around to hear it, I would probably call in and ask if you had any reservations posting here.  You were around long enough to see reactions to George, Heather, and even Art were not all positive.  Either you have a great amount of confidence (in which case, Kudos), or you must have been at least a little hesitant...

*I should mention that I have went from being somewhat indifferent to being a fan.  Not a sycophant; not likely to send you painted rocks, draw you as a superhero (I can't draw), crash the gates of area 51 with you, or cast spells of protection on your show... Just somebody who appreciates good radio when I hear it.  ;)

I'm thinking tonight is a good night to drink a bunch of White Russians and then get ready to call into some late-night paranormal streaming radio shows.
Come on Tim.  Why they gotta be white?  You afraid of the dark?  Put some black down your throat.  Go black, you never go back.

Thanks.  I really need to spend more time on this site so that I spot those things in advance. Apparently an hour or two (or three) a day simply is not enough.  Perhaps if I gave up my full time job?  ;)

*Of course, now I have ruined the ambush of a question.  :'(

I still want to hear the backstory on the blood.

Do you think we will pass up the page count of the OSOM thread this weekend?

I am listening to that first gabcast interview with Redacted and Art & I am just floored because it is a different person. The same sounding person from the gabcast like the girl next door. A voice that people could really like, a smooth relaxed attitude.
What The Fuck Happened!!! Where and what went wrong boy what a total waste. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. Now we have this crazy mess?!

Correct.  And somehow Art apparently didn't notice.  Or .perhaps that's what he meant when he was insisting she was getting better by the minute.

Time for Dave's show! Hello, everyone! ;D

Alcohol is the "gateway drug", NOT marijuana.

Is that an accurate statement based on peer-reviewed research, or an imho as well? I don't know myself, just curious.

That's a very interesting book.  I'm looking forward to the show.

RFK Jr. and another of his siblings are asking for a new investigation into his father's assassination. He does not believe Sirhan Sirhan did it, since Sirhan was in front of RFK and the autopsy said he was shot several times in the back of the head and neck, from behind. Sirhan says he knows he had a gun in his hand but doesn't remember firing it nor anything that happened. Interesting!

The actual thing being exchanged here is attention and sympathy, and I'd venture to guess that, unlike prostitution, both parties feel elevated thereby.

Isn't an exchange only fair if both parties are getting what they think they are getting?  If, for example, I pay a prostitute with counterfeit money that she thinks she can use to feed her kids (only to discover it's worthless when she goes to spend it) was that a fair transaction?

What you say is true as far as it goes: both Heather and her callers come away feeling elevated.  However, I don't consider it a fair transaction because while their sympathy and gifts are (more or less) real, she is giving them crocodile tears in return.

It is true that, "where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise."  And while what you say is true, but it only holds true for as long as they believe the feelings expressed by Heather were genuine.  Once they discover they were false, they will be exactly like the prostitute in the aforementioned example.

(I'm reminded of the scene in the 1934 version of Of Human Bondage when (Spoilers!  Spoilers Ahead!  Stop reading here to avoid spoilers!) Leslie Howard's character finds out that Mildred hated him all along.  If you've never seen that movie, it's worth it for just that one scene.  The point being: when you finally find out someone was shedding crocodile tears to fool you, it hurts twice as much than if they had been honest with you all along.)

On the other hand, these cretins might be exactly the group of people Abe Lincoln was referring to when he talked about being able to fool, "some of the people all of the time."  ::)

All considered, it's quite a step up for her.

In relative terms, yes, but that isn't saying much, is it?  She's still being disingenuous and lying her head off.  Even if it is in, "a good cause," a lie is still a lie.

Quote from: K_Dubb on June 01, 2018, 09:05:41 PM
She's assessed (correctly) that, since nobody paid her any attention before Art, her connection to Art is all she's got.  She lacks the intelligence, curiosity or charisma to attract more than her lonely hearts club.  The smart thing to do, however distasteful, is to ride it for as long as people are paying attention.

I'll admit it: all week long I have been trying to come up with the perfect simile for Heather and now, thanks to your post, I've got it:

QuoteShe's the Debbie Boone of the chat show circuit.
