Quote from: WOTR on May 28, 2018, 08:07:53 PMCan somebody please tell me when first responders got added to memorial day?  It seems like a recent invention to add a group of people to a day that I had thought was for vets?  If we include first responders then it seems only fair to add prison guards and emergency room staff...
Heck, I remember when NYC added construction workers to those to be honored re 9/11/01.

It was fun playing with the troll last night.  Mommy, Daddy can we play with the troll again?

Look up Best of the Beatles (on the Savage Records label) sometime if you want a laugh.  :)
The engineer on the EMI demos was an asshole, he was telling Pete Best how to drum for the recording (something that should never happen and the guy shrugged it off in an interview).  So, after playing the same song hundreds of times a certain way, you're told to change it in a recording studio for the world to hear...  Pete Best had a much better excuse than a lot of us marginalized musicians could ever have... Other since well-established musicians liked Pete's drumming with the band...  Oh, and Cass Elliot died of a heart attack, not choking on a ham sandwich.

This song is based off a true incident:

This song is based on Pete Best's reaction to the above song:

This song was written and produced by two members of Pete Best's post-Beatle.band, the Pete Best Four:

I try to be. At my age, it's more of an obituary collection anyways.

See Pete Best. 🙄

Being fired earned him a spot on I've Got A Secret and one can still see that episode on YouTube.  The poor fellow looked totally shell shocked at how popular the Four Lads From Liverpool were becoming.

Its a crude fit for me.  like/dislike crap duh, not to mention the admitted govt social engineering aspect. Tho i understand businesses need it nowadays it just seems like tv/radio, the computer could be so much more but it usually falls to the lowest rung.
Thats why i like bellgab.  There are no pretenses.

As much as I despise her show, I'm guessing her upcoming package opening show is going to provide a lot of comedy. Can't wait to hear her open 23 packages from Paul and Ella.
maybe they sent a pack of newports in a ipad box ...

Did anybody catch Good Dave's facebook q&a yesterday?  If that was an effort to connect with people like us it was probably a miscalculation for the reason you mention, and open lines will likely suffer the same fate.  The Bellgab paradox:  passionate, engaged, yet somehow reticent.

This may explain the unsteady streaming that Chefist was having last night on Discord and I was having with DMDN, TuneIn, etc...

Hi Sean92008, Brig, Chefist.
Don't know if anyone is familiar with Downdetector.com. I use it periodically to find out if it's them or me. You can check most tech, phone, cable, etc sites with this application for mobile and PC's,  Apple or Android.
It comes in handy for us especially since we're in a rural area. Here is the live outage map for TuneIn as we speak.
You can select your favorites and have them prioritized at the top of the list on the free app which is what I use.  Hope this might help to see if there's issues.

Yes, I'm afraid Heather has regressed to the point where, unless you make up your mind beforehand that you're simply going to bask in her painfully transparent histrionics, listening to her programme holds more in the way of exhaustion than entertainment.

My guess is... from here on in, it is all downhill.  I know it's hard to imagine she could do any worse than last night, but I am convinced we heard her at the peak of her enthusiasm...

So you aren't eagerly awaiting unboxing shows done in Art Bell cadence and vocal fry?

I didn't find it to be uniformly awful radio, but I wouldn't grade it much higher than a C+...

C+   As in better than average?

Most radio broadcasters are worse than her?

You are correct. I would represent another of the facebookless. I just post here and a couple other true forums.

I guess I could be seen as archaic. I've never texted a message or so much as touched a smart phone. Never used an ATM, either.

Me too. I do not partake of social media, smartphones etc. Hell, I'm 71 years old and most of this crap didn't exist for most of my life. Ergo, I don't feel deprived by abstaining from all that.

Remember when BellGab called Art a liar about his stalker... ?

Good times.

The disrespect he had, the distain, the condescension.  Dude actually thought he was so far above that we'd believe that steaming pile.  It showed what he really thought of the audience all along.  It was fun rubbing his face in it when he came around afterward

To be fair, I'd say you've gotten hold of a particularly startling example of the human race there, even for a Hip Wader.*

If I remember the sordid backstory correctly, G. Mize claimed to be co-designer of the Space Shuttle (or something), only for someone to blow the gaffe by rudely pointing out they'd seen him stocking shelves at the local Walmart and what did he have to say about that, hey?

I found that an impressive way to look foolish, even for a HW fan.

*Someone once suggested this term be used to describe HW fans.  I can't find fault with it, seeing as how a pair of hip boots would come in handy to help them cope with the ever-increasing (some would say Everest-sized and growing) mounds of manure generated by Heather in her quest to become America's top fifth-rate podcaster.

When they used tubes, Heath was good at heaters.  To my knowledge, never tried to get away with having heaters double as cathodes in an audio stage when they were heated by AC.

No hablo porn.  I admit to being a bit of a luddite when it comes to tech. My efforts on this forum demonstrate that.

Yes, the "facebook" atmosphere" is a total disconnect for me. (And I'm being very polite here)  I have one, but haven't used it since it became what it is now.  It's fine for snowflakes or youngsters in highschool, people who need a safe space I guess.

If I sense avoidance of discussion, in favor of maintaining a PC environment, I loose interest quickly.  Sorry.  :'(

I'm still waiting for that show that knocks my socks off, the only exception to date is an MV GabCast.
