I just listened to last night's show and that ouija board story got me thinking.  Will we ever get to hear Art's ouija board story now that he's gone?  Did he ever tell it to anyone else or write it down?  Is it in his will to release it?

I suspect that it's like when people clamor to find out what happened to a character in a novel.
They are just asking the author to invent something because it's fiction.  Sometimes people get
lost in a fiction to the extent that they conceptualize it as if it was real.

As a showman it's tantalizing to an audience to suggest you have something you are keeping behind
a curtain.  Even more so if you say that something juicy is there that they will never get to see.  It's
an incredibly easy showman's tool to utilize because it requires zero capital.  It works best when there
really isn't anything behind the curtain at all.

It is so very disturbing how normal he looks.  The face of a monster is the face we all see in the mirror, potentially.  No fangs, green skin, distorted features, claws, or any such thing.  An attractive, well-spoken and reasonably charismatic guy that dresses like a lawyer may be savagely torturing, raping and murdering women by the busload.  You can't learn about these predators and continue to take anyone you meet for granted.  It could be your lawyer, it could be the friendly grocery store manager, it could be a church deacon, a prominent politician, a school teacher.  In fact it is far more likely to be a "respectable" type member of society then a disheveled street person.
Anyway, Bundy and Dahmer are both fascinating because of the amount of footage and interviews that exist but Dahmer's forthcoming admissions and self-awareness make him more conceivable, or vaguely relatable to the average person whereas Bundy never stopped manipulating, lying, playing games right up to the moment of execution.
I wish they had caught Bundy at least once, in prison or somesuch where someone wasn't actually be victimized by him, having some manner of violent episode or visible psychotic break, or just some kind of crack in his "I'm an amicable, reasonable fellow" veneer.  Maybe he was even that way as he committed those godawful acts.  He was one of the best cases for pure evil because he just doesn't seem mentally unbalanced but completely aware that he is some kind of apex hunter.

Your wish will probably come true. I'm currently editing and digitizing the original Serial Killers on its 30-year anniversary. Bundy and Bob Keppel talked for hours of recorded interviews, and Bundy helped catch the Riverman. Somewhere in our attic those tapes are moldering.

What is far more dangerous than somebody doubting the veracity of state-sanctioned theories of an event is society at large and the media working to vilify and suppress the questioning of authority.
A pack of Eric Cartmans run amok.  Without the pleasing personality.

Tonight’s guest says science can prove supernatural events.

Supernatural, being that which is considered to be something unexplained due to being outside of the understood natural order, once proven through science could reasonably be demoted on the excitement
scale down to merely natural.

Michael Vara, i know you're lurking. watching you break publicly has been hilarious. LMFAO! you've lied about some retarded shit. are you required to wear a helmet when you venture outside?

I lost faith when everyone wasn't out in the street protesting the supreme court ruling for and called Citizens United. If you don't know it's the law where anyone from any country can donate as much money as they want to a politician of their choosing to rule our country. Money is free speech, yo.

How about corporate personhood?  I can't believe that's still a thing.  The citizens have shirked their responsibility to keep their elected officials constrained and accountable for generations now.  The hole just gets deeper and deeper.

Hey, what's crappening, everybody? Sorry I've been MIA, I am moving into a new role at the radio station and it's been eating up all my time, but I'm looking forward to catching up on bellgab over the weekend and seeing what happens Monday night.

I miss the vampyr

I too miss the Vampier [sp?]

Was that the Falkie episode or the Chefist rebuttal?  Wouldn't mind hearing that again...........

Thinks it's time for Dave to have his own thread without all the Heather Wade and Art Bell BS.

I am starting this thread for Dave's MITD, for his take on the genre, for his shows, his and Ms Win's input, for feedback, conversation and chat before, during/about  Dave's show and not the whole shitload for anyone else in the MITD debacle....yeah, but this site is not known for that.

Let me start off.

I just listened to the show with Atwater. It was a great subject and one I was looking forward to, however my impression from the interview made me visualize that Dave was in some interrogation room with Atwater.

Dave you had some great questions, however the feel of the show was just like I wrote above. It really wasn't a conversation, however more of an interrogation. Overall the program was ok. however my suggestion to you is to make it more like an exploration with the guest vs a more interrogative style.

What I am missing in your shows to date is the feeling that you are sitting in your own home with whatever "guest", person ..asking the questions that you/we seek vs those that you feel your audience wants or will scrutinize you for. Art was a master at this, BS or not.

If any of you think this is a good idea, then please use this thread going forward.

If not ...carry on..BRAAPs and many tide pods.

Holy crap! Sounds like a nasty dude.

Yup and the more you dig the more bones you find.  Heater not having a clue just makes this even more silly.

when is Vara going to claim that Art/Heater voice clip was altered by trolls?

Freyja

Think that mebbe Dave and Ms Winni need a thread of their own, free from all the other HLW and Art is dead chat....a place that is theirs for comments, chat during the show, before, after that is more easy to follow.

Yeah, know this likely will go down like a lead balloon...

Is there a clip posted anywhere aside from the MITD archives of this apparently controversial news blurb from the other night?

Michael Vara, can you read?
