Yes, I used to run into the Zendiks on Grateful Dead tours, selling their CD's and newspapers.

Ha, yes I could easily seeing them going to Dead shows. I always got the paper because seemed weird. We're they really a "sex cult?" Who knows. I know the folks selling the papers etc always seemed to be younger than the Zendiks themselves and one-step above homelessness and "on something."

At the same time, roughly, there was a 'group' that recruited homeless people and had them sell roses and newspapers on street corners (not Moonies) and had them living in buses on some rural property and would drop them off across town in morning and pick up in evening and, apparently, take their money and then give them booze/drugs they 'needed.'
