I hate Skype but Skype is better than cell phones.

Someone was saying that they liked skype for guests, but not callers, which kinda makes sense since skype makes people sound like they're almost in the same room with you.

But both that model and the rotary model (and princess phones too) had a screw you could remove from the bottom that would allow you to turn the ringer volume all the way to off.

Google phone and Skype can do toll-frees all over the world.  I frequently call toll-free Japanese numbers and make a fool of myself trying to get through voice menus.
