Yeah I'm sick of potentially sounding insensitive to her grief at this point. Unless there are things we do not know, she should be back by now. It is ludicrous and selfish.
We all just have to put one foot in front of the other and continue on. People say time heals all wounds, but I'm more of a believer that time just makes things easier to deal with.

She has to be using this moment to deal with other underlying issues she had buried and not dealt with.

I think she knows if she returns she is going to get lit up. She has never been able to handle any criticism. That is where Art came in and continued to build her up. This "business" (I say business because this isn't real radio or tv) is tough no matter what you do. I had people when I did my show, the very first one I did on my own, tell me they hated me and wished I would commit suicide. I kept doing my show. People have told me they hate my writing. I still write. I realized a long time ago some people are just going to hate me and that's cool.
So IMO we have several things going plus an untreated mental illness. I guess to be fair she could have meds and she could be being treated for her mental problems but given the outbursts we've seen it's unlikely and her response to people saying she needs help.

Ok so two people I work with lost spouses in the last couple of years. One was a shop guy who was back to work two days later. The other is a friend and co-worker of mine who was back the next day (he died on a weekend) because she said if she didn't get back to her normal routine it was just going to be harder as time went on. She also attends a group for widows on a regular basis. These are real people with real jobs. What's Heather's excuse?  Yeah sorry I'm judging. Get your ass back to work. Whether they were friends/lovers/related it doesn't matter. It's been at least two weeks at this point. I know the two cases I sited might be quick but even had they both taken the week (actually I think it's something weird like 3 days) my job allows there is no way in hell someone would still have their job after two weeks. They just wouldn't.
Edit: By the way the no guest host thing is absurd. So not only are you causing a direct loss of subscribers with your antics you are also trying to take Keith down with you. Seriously if you are reading this Keith, stop feeling sorry for her. She is using you and the network.

I think if you plucked your average person from obscurity and gave them everything they wanted you'd get a similar result.  Most people (I do not exempt myself) are walking contradictions given a coherent purpose only by the constraint of circumstances.  Fame, even tiny-corner-of-the-internet fame, is pathological.  Flaws magnified, manias encouraged -- I paraphrase: whom the gods would destroy they first make famous.

If HW (Or anyone) wants to make their own mark, they must be themselves; Imagine they're talking to only one person and let the guest (if they have one) do the talking. Listeners will either like you, or they won't. If they don't they won't listen. Impossible to try and appeal to everyone who might listen to the show.

I don’t think it is a case of losing money as much as it is not making money. He’s probably on the hook for some of Michelle’s salary but the rest of the costs are sunk costs. He stands to lose future tevenue. And dor the most part, that ship has already sailed. I think he has very little risk on doubling down with Heather. He follows Art’s wishes and if she comes back he might keep/get back some subscribers.

Right or wrong, I think that is how he is thinking. If not, he would have already shut it down.

I think she's been doing the show for all the wrong reasons, namely to get approval from Art whom she viewed as a father figure. They should blow MITD up and start over with different theme music and bumpers, maybe a new name altogether. The thought of carrying on the exact same show with Art not around to validate what she's doing must be a mental burden. No wonder she's hesitant about coming back.
