Go on, admit it, who bought a CB set in the 80's and wasn't a trucker? (I didn't, but knew a few who did)..That film has a lot to answer for. ;D

She was really hung up on getting the locals to lynch the sheriff. So ya, I guess in the end, it was a lot of the same.

By the way, a certain hoodie arrived on my doorstep today, WhiteCrow. Thank you! My husband loves it! I told him to open it across the room though, just in case there was a bomb in there.  :P
And damn, it's quite a nice hoodie. Embroidered and everything.  :)

You might want to put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. The one he sent me had a camera and transmitter in that locket looking thingy.

When I was 11, after about 2,300 lawn mowing jobs, I was able to buy a Uniden Washington base station CB and I had an Antron 99 antenna on a 40 foot tower outside.  I communicated with people all over the world on that bitch, usually lower SSB.  It was modified in order to access "more obscure" frequencies and to output more wattage than legally allowed.  Got me lots of poon.

Illegal CB wattage poon?    :o

Late bloomer. I stopped using them in the 80’s.

I wanted one back in the 70s when I was a kid But my parents never got me one So a buddy of mine Had one in his truck In my early 20s And it took off from there

Most of what you're missing is that Karen claims Airyn said that the police had her phone number because of "papers she signed" and reports and whatnot. And that they were told not to release the death info but did anyway despite agreeing not to (and told the media that they never spoke to Airyn). Karen is pissed at the sheriff's office and won't be voting for the current sheriff in the next election.

Also the sheriff snubbed everyone at the chili cookoff.

That's pretty much the focus right now.
That should've been the first clue.

The irony is that in adult life when I actually did drive an 18 wheeler for a time, I never turned on the CB.  In fact, I didn't even have one in the truck for the majority of my short trucking career.

I used them alot in the 70’s. I was in the Adirondack Show-Van-Ists and the Omaha Truckin Company. They were mandatory equipment for vans back then. Still remember my call letters too. Actually one of the few people that got a license.

I have a couple of handhelds in my go bag along with the gmrs and frs talkies.

You could have broadcast Gabcast from the cab...

Probably not the thread to ask this in but it’s a shit show anyways. What did you listen to the must while you were doing that job?

Quote from: Yorkshire pud on April 26, 2018, 09:44:01 AMIF Heather is serious about being a broadcaster, she could do a lot worse than getting proper professional speech tuition..I can give her the names of at least three teachers, two of whom specialise in Voice over; Radio speech (It isn't the same as VO), and corporate speaking. It starts with being confident and having fun doing it. I don't think Heather has much of the former and doesn't seem to enjoy the latter. She needs to learn voice melody, enunciation, clarity (LOSE the vocal fry) and just work on those three to begin with, then make a show her own, not trying to be Art Bell.
Hogwash.  Although she sounds worse now than when she 1st got on mic, that's never been the problem.

When they were in fashion in the UK, a few small shops sprung up and sold all the equipment. It wasn't illegal to sell, buy or install, but they were illegal to use without a license. Naturally most disregarded this little technical detail and there was considerable anger from truckers who had bought a license. But like all fads, it died down after a few years and the only ones using it once again were truckers..then mobile phones that looked like house bricks took over..

Anon and Sean92008 made it through.  Sean went hard, hit way too close to home and Karen hung up on him.  She gave a weak (and outright bizarre) excuse about Art's immediate family being "hard to reach."

The poor thing has Absolutely no idea that there is a whole community of hundreds of people who literally have nothing better to do than obsess about this every single night.

Damn, I'm home sick posting today...that's how I'm trying to catch up...& if only I'd known it was that easy to get sympathy, I'd've mentioned it this AM!

I could be cruising anywhere in upstate new york and find someone to chat with on channel 23. That was our club’s default channel.

You're not entirely wrong.

Sorry if I've missed this, but why haven't all the anti-Heather people used her own wuju against her and done a mass consciousness exercise to summon a live show? I don't think there's been another word I've heard her say more lately, except maybe disclosure and some strange sounds I can't decipher. If it can work on aliens it can work on that.

I wonder if Art got an earful about that from Ramona.
