I do think the date is suspect. He was ill, and it was a fitting date for his death. I don’t think you can say he wouldn’t because he converted to Catholicism, and they frown upon suicide. He married Catholics. Converting doesn’t necessarily mean you believe. (My Aunt was raised Catholic, but converted to Judaism for her husband. She’s an Atheist).
