I figured. Ha. I saw some show, on one of those constant shows with auctions some years ago, that, apparently this kind of stuff is now popular with "upscale blacks" (I think they even used that term!) If you check out Ebay it might be true. Weird world.

I have a friend that lives on the Guadealupe now above New Braunfels. He used to have an antique store in Galveston. I don't have a picture of it, but he bought a statue at auction down there that used to be in a park. Somebody got tired of looking at it and hooked a chain up to it and ripped it off the cast iron base. The statue and the base weighed about 200 pounds and was almost 4 feet tall.

I welded the statue back on to to the base for him, and it is now sitting at his river house.

It was more realistic looking than the caricature that Norland posted.

I've heard that some people, even "teachers," say you should try to write your epitaph. It can put things into perspective. I also find it weird. Then again, I think it is good that people keep logs or journals (hey, I'm not going to say diary! Sexist?) but especially on good trips or interesting jobs etc. You can look back and gain knowledge, after, and even remember later.

1) that sucks
2) that was not me, or anyone I know, or mine (mine is not that tall but has a bigger base, and is happier.)
