Is anyone going to watch the roots remake

There are some posts about that over in the "African-American Interests" thread.

I don't know how many folks here have read Callahan's book Adrift,

::scans crowd for raised hands::

...but if you have read it, I think I am safe in saying that you've never forgotten it.  It's a riveting read and I'm only sorry my own copy isn't at hand.

If there is a Radio God, he will work to seal Heather's lips so that any flow-ruining interjections are kept to a minimum.  This could turn out to be her best programme ever provided she has the good sense to remember she is there only to serve as a guide for the story the guest has to tell (rather than trying to relate it to her own experiences and make the conversation all about her).

(And just so you know: if she somehow manages to work in the fact that she is a witch into this conversation, I'm taking hostages.  You have been warned.)

Welcome to bellgab!  Please Post Often!

Praise MV!

Hell no!  Just another movie/series/show that doesn't need a remake.  IMO...it was epic for the time and still, and always, relevant.

Not a fan?  LOL!

I don't know. I think it's great that people I don't know put a dense piece of plastic somewhere else. It might have been easier to block it if they hadn't been wearing all that gear. That couldn't have been easy to move in.

That happens a lot.  People put plastic things in certain places.  Some people you know, I'm sure.   I could send you some links.  :D   ;)   ;D

Yes. That worked!
Was it just me in this area or did you have to 'reset' your whole house after that blackout?! Thanks Keith! Now I have to reset every friggin clock, microwave, tv, vcr (yes, I said that my laserdisc is being repaired,) stoves, and clock-radios. Thanks, thanks a lot.

Aliens observing us must conclude that putting balls in holes (or nets) is the most important thing to us based on how we pay and treat the people that do it. I'm sure they haven't made contact yet because they're still trying to figure out the significance of this to us.

Ok, let the lewd balls in holes jokes fly now.  ;)  :P

As a lark, many decades ago, we took him camping and to various parks and road-trips. Japanese tourists at the Grand Canyon liked it and took pics even. He was too heavy. Now he enjoys my garden, which, after all, he would rather do. No singing songs to me but, I can drink a mint julep and he almost serenades me!

Who is to say they don't? Comets etc aren't just some billard shot, "through that Big Dipper carom off Orions belt, double or nothing!"

Hey, where'd you get him? He was like my jockey! (Toby was like him but bigger, never would've made a good jockey. So I, unlike others, accepted him.)

That is like the set-up line for an off-color "joke" about a parrot and a bartender...

Just sayin'.

I figured. Ha. I saw some show, on one of those constant shows with auctions some years ago, that, apparently this kind of stuff is now popular with "upscale blacks" (I think they even used that term!) If you check out Ebay it might be true. Weird world.
