The problem is that levels of pain are ultimately subjective, i.e., there's no objective way to know what someone else is really feeling. So, most are given the benefit of the doubt because no one in real pain would want to be denied that.  ;)

Yes, however some doctors are pretty free with their prescriptions. Nobody needs 30 tablets of hydrocodone for a burn that will be healed in a week. I'm not bullshitting either.  I had a coworker get that at a Patient First near our place of employment.  My opinion is that doctor was irresponsible.

The search thingy is at the right top corner once you click the v looking thing.  AND at the top of the page. next to 'rules.'
ahh, I see. MV trying to get all high tech and up to date. I hate it. the v looking thing. if you have to describe a new feature as "the new v looking thing", its bad for business.  it literally does the same thing, but now its one more step? eh. forums.. it's not my world. I'm just living in it.

Quote from: zeebo on April 22, 2016, 11:14:17 PMI had a case of bronchitis which lasted for months.  So bad I thought I'd break my ribs from the coughing.  Finally needed the codeine cough syrup to sleep.  But that stuff is dangerous.  After I finally healed up I had a few teaspoons left.  After staring at the bottle awhile, finally dumped the stuff.
Could you please explain what you mean by "dangerous", why you stared at it, and why you dumped it?

My opinion is that doctor was irresponsible.

See I don't like this attitude. Let people and their doctor treat themselves by the way they decide is best for them. I dislike the culture of always being in other peoples business. Especially when it comes to health issues. That is for the doctor and patient to decide the best course of treatment.

They certainly could. You need to take them every 4-6 hours at least to be effective. That's 3-4 pills a day X7=28. So they have two pills left over to have a party with.  :P

Or it could just be that the pharmacy won't fill <30 tabs at a time.

Oh just that I wanted it for non-medical reasons at that point.  It kind of alarmed me.  So I decided to stop there.

There is a threshold point where you'll friggin do anything to stop it.  Everyone's line is different but I think we all have one.

I remember when my Dad was dying from cancer, they put him on the morphine.  I called him one day and he said the morphine was better than sex.  LOL.  He was pretty upbeat too.  I don't think he had ever had any drugs for pain before that.

What attitude?  "Culture of being in other people's business."  I'm not in anybody's business.  Quite frankly if you think the example I put out there is justified then I think you have a problem.  Maybe some doctors rush through things and just give the prescription just to get the patient out of there?  Is that not possible?
