Well there ya go then.Somewhere there exists a timeline where mTV still plays music and the SciFi channel didn't get all derped in an attempt to "market."

I'm blaming it on the discovery of the Higgs Boson. Ever since then we've been in this bad parallel dimension that has derped out marketing words but no Art Bell  :o

I haven't watched it, but they adapted Childhood's End. I'm not hopeful they'll nail it. Hard scifi is not easy to put on TV in a world of sudden death character-driven writing.
I'm usually disappointed with any screen adaptation of hard scifi. And why do they lump us in with those Fantasy poofs?

I know, it's because one can make a case that "hard" scifi is fantasy but they need to keep their fucking unicorn noses out of my entertainment.

I like Heather. Art might be a borderline personality, posting pics of the drone hurting his arms, the whole ordeal going on "making" him retire. I like Art's draw of interesting interviews, but idk, he won't stay off facebook. posting pics of his house now?! WTH would he do that if someone's after him?

So, not a Game of Thrones fan then?  :P

It's market analysts and focus groups and nothing else, they George Noorify everything. The harder the sci-fi, the less people will watch it. It's that way with books too, you wouldn't believe the bullshit scifiauthors have to do to accommodate publishers.

Not in any way, shape or fashion. But I may have to start watching it someday because I keep hearing about it. I do like Don Carlin's hard core history, so there is that. Currently listening to "King of Kings"

e.g. forget the warp drive specs and gimme another erotic green-babe scene.

Dude, he's bored. My brother recently retired and he's driving the whole family nuts wanting to "talk" and "say hi" and do shit with us. I mean what the hell man, lol just kidding about my brother but i think Art has too much time on his hands now..

Once again, Star Trek nailed this question of first contact: Never make contact with a species until they're on the verge of interstellar space travel because then you're probably going to be running into them anyway. Until then they're just dangerous primitives.  ;)

GoT is almost more alternative universe than Fantasy. Especially the novels, even as overblown as the last couple have been. No puff, C

Now, now Dr. MD MD! Discussing topics such as the "god particle", is reserved for more serious threads...

Just pretend you're not S-M-E-R-T, I mean S-M-A-R-T!

I think that is exactly why we don't see them. Another one is that we are just the anthill they are walking by. Makes sense to me.

I think GOT works for one primary reason: Dinklage!
