Yeah, because technological advances stifle the economy.  Oh, wait. . .

Yep I didn't quite get that one.  It can restructure an economy, but usually grows it.

I just found another rootbeer candy in the drawer.

Good job Heather for fitting in all those Wormhole questions.  It's finally getting used!

People keep saying that free energy would hurt the world economy.  That's total bullshit:  it would simply shift the money into more deserving pockets, and defund the most violent and dangerous armies in the Middle East.

As for Ciardelo, he thinks that is a low probability event. However he has also said he was drawn to the Art Bell show to specifically get a dose of woo. Ciardelo wishes that God will help him if all this turns out to be true.

Has Ciardelo seen any episodes of Childhood's End yet?

Is it all sticky?

No, it was solid. I went for it. Found a bag of lemonheads too.

Ciardelo has not, however his interest is piqued by your query. Apparently this is an adaptation of an Arther C Clarke novel he asks? Ciardelo has a deep and abiding affection for hard science fiction.

I'd love to read a discussion.  I read the book 15 years ago and loved it.  I haven't seen the mini-series.

Don't know this Clarke fellow, but apparently he was best buds with one R.C. Hoagland so was probably an ok guy.

It is. I think it's on Syfy (which I understand is spelled totally incorrectly).

I haven't watched it, but they adapted Childhood's End. I'm not hopeful they'll nail it. Hard scifi is not easy to put on TV in a world of sudden death character-driven writing.

Somewhere there exists a timeline where mTV still plays music and the SciFi channel didn't get all derped in an attempt to "market."
