Is the coroner there still an elected position without much qualification? I thought bodies were done by the Vegas Clark County outfit if suspicious death?

That should be correct. Coroners are just regular people elected to the post. They are sometimes undertakers, but are normally NOT Medical Doctors, the doc's work in cities etc that are under the ME or Medical Examiners. Thry are forensic pathologist who are trained to do Autopsys. A coroner has to send a body to a hospital who is a govt, County hosp and have pathologist. Now here is the thing. Hospital pathologist will do a "medical post mortem" as if you die in the hospital not under suspicious death. But doctors want to know what happened or how good or bad medical care was and how a parient died.
A forensic pathologist dies a forensic post mortem to find the cause and manner of death and if a homicide was committed and how, who, why, when etc...to give testimony in a criminal court and help Police convict and arrest a suspect. Now if a coroner system sends a body to the hospital at a pathologist, we need to know the type of autopsys they are trained for and how many if each and if they have the ability to preform a forenic/criminal procedure.
See big difference...a lot of things unfortunately are missed and LE's job is much harder.
What doctor and what kind and training and experience do they have. By now Art's results should be back unless it wasn't done or done incorrectly.
I'd love to see the death certificate which needed to be issued before he is buried...what was, on this public doc, what is the cause and manner listed, that is extremely important.
