Perhaps it's because none of it is real, or if it is there are so many charlatans and kooks out there it's nearly impossible to get to what is real?

Thanks to Art Bell and his guests (and especially the handful of them he says are his friends), I no longer even consider the woo-woo part of any of it.  I've seen 2 UFOs myself, so I wouldn't mind some of the anomalies being looked into by reputable people for a change.  The problem is the topics have been so poisoned by the frauds and hucksters, that no one who already has a solid reputation in a scientific field is willing to risk that and get involved.  So we're stuck with campfire stories instead.

Agree -- I mean a quick google search reveals that there are more than 25 various conferences on topics from ghosts to UFOs to general "paranormal" topics.  There are probably at least that many radio shows and who knows how many podcasts.  What we need is one maybe two conferences where people bring up NEW material and spend time providing evidence.  It's so diluted now that people just rehash the same old crap over and over.  I can't believe people actually attend.  Plus it takes literally very little to qualify as a panelist or a speaker these days.  No wonder people stopped taking it seriously.

The biggest farce along these lines so far was the "Citizen Hearing on (UFO) Disclosure".  You pay me $20000 for less than a week's work and I'd sign a non-binding letter asking for UFO information as well.  Everything else was show biz.
