Would you go to a NASCAR race where the cars had to use only water for fuel?

It would be an excellent idea if NASCAR held a few races each year for cars that run only on water.

If NASCAR led the way in alternative fuels I bet every motor head redneck would have a car running smoothly on water within in a year.

Here is just one example of some guy solving the problems of using water to run a car.

Crown Victoria running on the road using 100% water.

I wouldn't go to a NECKCAR race if they strapped naked ladies to the car hoods and paid me to attend.  Other than that, whatever turns you on.

I'd rather see a NASCAR race with all electric engines with insane torque.

However. That wouldn't be a very long race with current battery tech. But the ability to almost instaneously accelerate would make for some super exciting lead changes

    Drive a Bookmobile to a Nascar event and vex the attendees. "Wut in the H E double hockey sticks is that?"

All the torque in an electric car is at the bottom end.  From my understanding there's not a whole lot left at racing speeds.

In order to get hydrogen from water, you can use electrolysis:

2 H20 --> 2 H2 + O2

Hydrogen combustion in any thermodynamic system (eg/ car engine) gives water vapour.

2 H2 + O2 --> 2 H2O

See the problem here?

You cannot split water into hydrogen, and then combust the hydrogen back into water vapour and expect to liberate any energy from the process.

As long as the race is loud and crashes happen, I'd go.

Oh Yes, it will be loud, but I can't guarantee there will be crashes.

But they do assign drunk guys to stand by the fence every 20 feet to distract the drivers and even through drinks on to the track for a good chance of a pileup.[/b

The only race I've been to and continue to go to is the Isle Of Man TT every other year. They did start a battery-only class a few years ago. Not even remotely as fast as gas bikes (140mph vs 210mph), but they are really cool. And I'd love to have one.

A 3hr car race, turning left only. I don't even know how it made it on TV let alone gained a following. Got to be the most boring thing since televised golf and baseball.
