ok - so I missed the prior David Jacobs interview so I went back through the archives and found it.   If you are a time traveler, you can access via this link http://darkmatterdigitalnetwork.com/date-thu-sep-24-david-jacobs/ and you can hear the guest if you missed him last time around.  I may listen to see if I personally feel I'm missing anything tonight or not by David Jacobs not being able to be interviewed.

I'm just gonna re-watch the new Star Wars trailer another ten times.

Yeah, it's kind of disrespectful for Keith to put up some non-Art Bell in MITD's timeslot on the DMDN backup, IMO.  Bad form, Keith.  Tsk.

Eh.
If you think about it, putting on non-Art material makes sense. Doesn't confuse listeners who are tuning in but have no clue what the situation is. I don't even think they have a 'this is a pre-taped show, so please don't call in' bumpers in place for that sort of thing either.

Keeps the brand intact and instantly lets people know that there's no show tonight.

Oh no not the debt clock.

Could it be possible that treasury debt is exactly how the economy is supposed to function?

Could it be possible that for every dollar of treasury debt, that there is a dollar of assets in someone's pocket?

Well, it all depends if it compensates for the $229 billion annual accrued interest.  Actually, I wish I could get a rate like that.

jazmunda

Well I guess I oughta do some actual work while at work. Later gabberinos.

I suppose, but they probably should have had those bumpers ready for when this kind of thing happens.

100% agree but this team doesn't strike me as the most... prepared when it comes to this sort of thing. Slow on broadcasting info via social media, for example.

I can't imagine how frustrating this must be for Art, especially given how much he enjoyed his first go-round with Jacobs. I was looking forward to some alien kookiness.

If I were Art I'd break out the plans and figure out alternative methods to making sure some form of broadcast gets out there given how this expansion plan is afoot. I know from experience that affiliates don't enjoy having their board people scramble to find that alternative playlist when a live feed isn't coming through.

This plan would include prepackaged reruns complete with 'this is a replay' info hardcoded into what they're sending out, and making sure that these packages are available at every node point.

He just did an interview on the Paracast last night.

Too much strangeness to even go through.  A few standouts:  1) He almost cheerfully discusses an account of a sexually charged abduction involving a 7 year old girl.  2) Aliens are too stupid to figure out what a dog or goat is. 3) Aliens hang out at corner stores to learn the ways of humans.

I kid you not.

For those who want their brains a little fried, here's the link.  Download it and suffer.

Put on Alongside Night because DMDN failed us.

J. Neil Schulman is awful, and is making me cringe every time he says something.

The bumper music is terrible.

Producer: "You're still the only show on today."

Dead air is preferable tbh.

What'd Harper do make Canadians hate him so much?

I literally haven't seen Canadians say one positive thing about him. Personally I don't want Trudeau because he looks like a pot head and I'm anti-legalization.
Being as I still can't hear Art, I will answer.  As somebody who voted reform (very right) and conservative for many years and spoiled my ballot this year (was considering NDP, but too many policies way out of my comfort zone and JT makes me ill- so no Liberals either) I think I can answer.

There are those who hate him, period (like any good partisan hack.)  However, his bill c-51 was a tough pill to swallow.  He concentrated so much power in the prime ministers office that he became a dictator (all Prime Ministers are, to an extent, but he took it to the extreme.)  He brought out many "wedge" issues (I don't like the Nikab (sp?) but it should not be what we base an election on.)  He took to not attending meetings of Premieres and told some of his candidates they could not take part in debates this election (nothing like controlling everything and telling constituents to suck it- you won't be there for democracy.)

Really, there are a hundred different reasons.  But when you have somebody who has only ever voted the right looking to the NDP, you have to consider they may be a failure.  I look forward to them getting back on track and skipping the "us vs. them" mentality.  Maybe there will be a party that I can feel good about voting for next round (hell, maybe Justin will surprise me and I will vote Liberal- but I really doubt it... and his speech tonight did not help my confidence.)

In general, he is a very different PM from the man I had expected as the former leader of the Canadian taxpayers federation.  Back then I voted FOR him- last time I voted AGAINST the other parties.  This time, they all made me ill...

Strangely enough, as someone who is diametrically opposed to your views traditionally, I also ended up spoiling my ballot this go-round. Trudeau's desire to appeal too broad bothered me and Mulcair's move to take the NDP into a Liberal Lite direction were both problematic. I live in QC and most of the Bloc's platform is laughable, and the Greens didn't impress me. So I drew a bunch of stuff on my ballot and felt good about it.

Harper is a massive supporter of Israel and absolutely anti-marijuana.  There's no room for that kind of bullshit dinosaur thinking in Canada.  Good riddance.

I tuned into Alongside Shit out of complete boredom, and Schulman was talking about how he was going to play samples of his father playing in a symphony from the 40s. Compelling paranormal radio folks. Watch out Art.
Lolz.

A penis doodle by any chance?

Nah, nevermind.  That's not really the Canadian thing to do.

Oh good. Amy is doing the DM News on the repeat. We wouldn't want Leo's voice polluting two streams at once. Don't cross the streams.

HAHA.  Hilarious that people on opposite ends of the spectrum come to the identical conclusion (that they all suck too much to support this time around.)  May they have better candidates and leaders on both sides of the spectrum next round.  See you in four years. ;)

Haha, indeed ;)

Let's hope the next go-round is less... fear-based, all around. If the Libs push for electoral reform like they've been claiming then it'll be the most interesting election cycle in many a moon, and perhaps more people will end up voting with their hearts instead of "strategically" aka electoral cock blocking.

Trudeau will probably surprise a lot of people.  He's a lot smarter than many people realize.

I happily voted Liberal this time around.
