The purpose of the YouTube channel is to give people who have not had a chance to listen to the live show or even heard of Art before a taste of what they are missing.

It's also marketing wrapped in a pretty package that can easily be shared via social media.

Most of what is on the channel are short clips highlighting the great and varied topics and guests that Art has and the quality of the interviews and different aspects of the show such as the great callers and wormhole questions (coming soon).

Occasionally we'll offer whole first hours to give people a taste of the longer format aspect of the show.

I don't believe having this will stop people from taking out a subscription. It's a tool to create awareness of Midnight in the Desert with Art Bell. The goal is to get people aware and listen live and the TT subscriptions will take care of themselves.

Oh.  Okay then.

Hey Jaz, there's a half dozen long vids up on YouTube of Art on Periscope, visible from this link (if you want to collect things under one roof)
Arg, pasting the link herein results in displaying the vid inline so here's the link sans the leading (h)

and you might want to remove the m. mobile prefix too

I noticed those periscope videos the other day. I'm not sure Art would want those kept for posterity. At least that's the impression that I get. I enjoy the peek behind the curtain that we get with Periscope. I'll see if collecting them is an option but I doubt that it will be. You never know.

Alrighty. Up to you'all. In smaller clips they do add a certain reality and authenticity and intimacy to the more virtual "wizard behind the curtain" scenario. Come to think of it, if it's good enough for The Wizard of OZ . . .;')

Very nice Jazz. I like that they have included the 1st hours of some shows. Will Art be offering any full shows in the future? That could be a good way to showcase the show to potential radio stations.

I think that they should offer at least one as a sample to potential broadcasters and to the general public but that of course is up to Art.

It's been so long I didn't recognize the liftage!  Besides, I don't think I ever saw the color version, just black and white TV of it. Cool deco set. Here's the exact clip . . .

Any suggestions?

There are 3 first hours and nearly 30 clips (and counting) to give people a taste.

These clips are there to entice people to take a listen for free and then subscribe to listen to the archive if they miss a show.

It's also free to subscribe to the channel.

That was one of my favorite callers' story so far. Glad you chose it as a clip because I actually missed when Art told him he didn't have long to live at the beginning of the call. Odd for Art to say that -- but wow ... what a chilling twist and intriguing story.

Yes that was very prescient of Art.

I too think that has been the best call into MITD.

This is a pretty smart move by Art's team. It's smart to show a strong sample and hopefully bring new ears to the new show.
