The greatest story teller ever!!!!!  :P

Neil Gamian, Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, and Warren Ellis all disprove this.

So does Jonathan Hickman and Larry Niven

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. I enjoy hearing about it. It should have its own Facebook page.

Or it's own Twitter account.

Also we have to invent this tech as it would seem a successful deterrent to other planets trying to colonize us and wipe us out. And so we would likely achieve contact just through inventing this.

It's a great movie if you like aircraft carriers.  I think it's what first made me want to join up and become a pilot (which didn't quite work out).

;D It's a fun movie man definitely. I really enjoyed it as well. I just watched it on Netflix not too long ago. It's a great popcorn/rainy day movie.

I thought I smelled popcorn in the kitchen whilst refilling my drink a few minutes ago.

VQ, kindly use your own microwave oven for that...

The funny thing is,  that movie came out about 39 years after Pearl Harbour.  Now it's about 35 years since the movie and we're still  using most of the same equipment.

I could use more help in my campaign to talk (Redacted) into booking at least Alan Moore. Gaiman may be too big for Art now. Still hoping for Ellis.

Oh yes, portals through space-time are going to need air traffic controllers!

there also hasn't been a big naval war that would make the need to make better tech

Why would they call it Blue Bird? They should be calling it the Phoenix  >:(

I'd think "warping" around that close to the surface of the earth at airline levels wouldn't really be feasible, that'd be more like a "transporter" tech at the microdistances involved...

ediot: but what do I know?

I never got any response from the person that was a friend of Moore, they almost never use their account on fb.

I think you were in the RCH thread when we talked about Moore.  Which host would be better in your opinion?

True, though a hell of a lot of them use "students" and "post-grads" to do their research to get their chairs, grants, etc. And consulting with companies who, wow how did that happen, fund them or when emeritus get some school, scholarships, or building after them. I'm not saying it is corrupt totally but there is way too much pressure in legitimate programs. (I won't go into why certain schools even exist much less get public funding but in legit stuff, there still is lots of politics, aside from usual system stuff but for grants, programs, research, etc.)

ALL of them use students and post docs to get grants.  That's their training and their purpose.

As for the rest of what you said, no.  Just no.  Facepalm.
