Listener count on Midnight in the Desert

The show has been on for a while now and I'm just really curious what kind of listenership Art is getting online. I've noticed that there doesn't seem to be a drought of callers each night. 5000 per night? 10,000?

I know that Art/Keith/etc have numbers, I wonder if they'll ever share them.

somebody said recently that they could see a listener count through some app/site/whatever that was boasting 200,000 some odd connections my old friend.

I luv you williedee

Paradox

Might be a bit difficult to get a precise count.  I no longer use TuneIn-piece of crap IMO.  Caused nothing but trouble for me once MITD launched.  I use Winamp, WMP or iTunes to listen.  If there are issues I even try the pop up player.  Could be listening on any app (other than TuneIn) on any given night.

I never had Tune-In issues. I can start a stream and let it go for hours with no issues.

The listener base seems to be doing better than I would have initially thought. I can barely ever listen live due to my work schedule, but being a TT solves that issue.

If Art is willing to thumb his nose at radio stations who want more commercial time it has to mean that he isn't hurting for listeners that bad.

That number that appears in the TuneIn app is not a listener count. It simply is a count of the amount of posts in the TuneIn chat for the Dark Matter Digital Network channel. A good indication of popularity of the show on TuneIn is the Trending list which I believe now has MITD beating out BBC which is very popular on a nightly basis. This still does not give us a figure though and I doubt they will release anything official like ratings on the radio.

The chances of us getting these numbers is also reduced because unlike Dave, Art has not had a history of bragging about himself.

Enough listeners to make the show worth doing.

Not enough listeners to offset an 60% increase in his service fee.

MiTD costs $8 now if you join? Only thing that will do is drive people to torrents for any show they missed or care to listen to again.

I hit the torrents daily for many things, but I'm a Time Traveler because I support Art.
That's what it comes down to.

Just Me

I heard art is having a fire sale with 33% off new membership.

The stream guys monitor analytic's from their shoutcast servers broadcasting the art bell show which feed live radio stations as a single listener, each station. I don't know how they can judge listeners from a radio broadcast since they can only estimate the number of listeners based on a formula used by neilson ratings of how many tuned in to a show.

If the shoutcast server uses any software like centova cast they can see in real time the number of connections to the servers, thus know the listener count from the internet

I use StreamWriter + Dropbox... shows are waiting for me in the morning. If you don't feel like messing with torrents, PM me.
