Mt.McKinley is no more

The park was already called Denali and the locals have been using that name, so I don't really care but curious. Plus McKinley is a dead, white guy so who cares? But it is sort of bizarre but I guess the President, via Board on Geographic Names, can change names for anything at will? The Board itself was created by a Presidential Executive Order, which doesn't seem very "democratic." Obama should really upset people and decree that Texas is now called Rev.Wright or something. He could have a lot of fun cracking a few beers and inviting over some social justice warriors friends and rename all the cities and States in the country after militants, radicals, foreigners, and minorities. Would be hilarious.

Name is taken by someone's deer camp. They periodically do this when someone brings it to their attention. (The controversy over a certain creek and hill was funny.)

I think Obama should take his power to the next level. Simply allowing illegals and Muslim refugees over in vast numbers is a fine start but a real "fundamental transformation" means start over- by renaming everything. No dead white-male as a name of anything.

They can start naming high schools after Barak.  Midnight Toker High.  Some people may call it Maurice.

I see this is the knuckle-dragging asshat thread . . . .

The late Atlanta comic Ludlow Porch once made it to Johnny Carson's show by hosting radio programs in which a supposed federal regulator was changing place names. People who didn't understand it was a joke were outraged.
I guess life follows radio humor.

McKinley was assassinated so to me it's like renaming the Kennedy Space Center. It just shouldn't be done.

Perfect...and when the Party can get you to the point of agreeing without thought...Mission Accomplished!

If you can't make an intellectual argument to the contrary, always attack character, intellect, etc...

I know it is, people i never thought would own a gun are now buying AR15's and ammo to feed them. As scary as it is i guess at least people are better armed now than ever before. Obamas gun grabbing was plainly obvious and then came the race baiting and police being shot for being white.

And what is the mirror image of your statement?  Replace your descriptive words with their antonyms.

This is all the result of the policies and philosophies of the common, intellectually inferior, superstition-based conservative right.

Be that as it may, Alaskans have been calling for a name change for the past 100 years.  The only Republicans opposed to the name change were the Ohio delegation because McKinley was from Ohio.  Alaska's Republican governor and the Republican Senator from Alaska thanked Obama for the long-overdue name change.

If Obama or the federal government had taken just one person's gun away, don't you think the NRA would have made sure everybody heard about it?

It was the queer question, huh?

The part you are obviously incapable of comprehending about my post is that lots of true-simpletons, like you for instance, actually do think you are intellectually superior and base your choices on evidence and reason, when nothing could be farther from the truth, or be more laughable.

You're a silly little cultist that is part of a clique of morons that would deny that water is wet, if you thought it would make you seem intelligent...

You're always blaming "intellectually-superior, science-based" people for society's problems.  If you don't like intellectually superior, science-based" people then it logically follows you prefer intellectually inferior superstition-based people.

I'm grateful for intellectually superior, science based people.  They're the ones who give all of us the wonderful technology we all enjoy, cure diseases and make our lives longer and better.  Someday you or a loved one may depend on some intellectually superior, science based people at Sloan-Kettering, Mayo Clinic or similar institution.

Intellectually inferior, superstition-based people never cured anyone of cancer or performed heart surgery.

P.S. What's all this "queer" stuff you're always throwing around in your posts?  Mrs. Who and I have been happily married for almost ten years and have two happy, well-adjusted children.  We also have two Honda Accords.  You can relate to that, right?

My point is that you are nothing but a groupie that believes that by identifying with a political / social philosophy that you've never even bothered to examine logically and/or objectively (as if you were even capable of doing so), that you are therefore, smart.

It's the stupidest thing I've ever seen.

Now, actually think before you type this time. Go back a read it a few times. Ask one of your smarter friends to explain it and help you comprehend it. If you keep trying, eventually it will sink in...

Kaiser Albrecht thank you for your tireless work documenting the egregious transgressions suffered by white men everywhere.  From "brown hoards" and "yellow tides" to those skulduggerous Muslims and, of course,  "that character Obama", you have steadfastly stood to protect white men from oppression and have preserved for history the truth. No longer will wealthy, well armed white males have to suffer the indignity of having "those people" tell us what to call mountains we will never visit and the audacity of whose lives "matter".

No greater a champion has the white man. Well, except the GOP, but you matter too.

I love it when conservatives sanctimoniously quote Orwell.  Irony is fun.

I don't know what their trying to accomplish with renaming a mountain.

I guess its a continuation of replacing a nations history with an abstract.  Like when they decided to take Alexander Hamilton off the ten dollar bill and replace him with Eleanor Roosevelt.  The only accomplishment she can claim is being married to a U.S. President.

Good thing you don't let a little thing like "book learning" get in the way of an opinion.  You go girl!

Thanks! ;) But I think the much of the mainline GOP, at least on the national level, would sell out white folks just as they would sell out the country. Maybe not purposefully as the Democrats, particularly this character Obama, would and do, but just to make an extra buck for their corporate backers.

Eleanor Roosevelt spoke with Hillary Clinton, according to Bob Woodward, so that adds to her fame.
