I have some slightly used diapers I could donate. :P

Good luck mate.

I belong to a special interest group opposing the use of Australian diapers.

Hey Gang, just a question

if Art did only a political talk show

would you still listen?

In other words do you care at all or have an interest in the alternate topics he discusses?

Heck, Art could fart in a heated leather seat and it would be interesting....

Northcoaster

I'm late to the party. What was Art calling on Anonymous for?

Quote from: Robert on July 22, 2015, 11:06:17 PMI think he could if he cared to.  No way I can prove it, but I think the difference is all due to a difference in effort, not talent.
I'll give you an example I'm familiar with.  A few hrs. ago I was at the home of someone I do some work with.  In many situations you might think he was a moron, but there's so much we take for granted and yet that he doesn't know.  He was pointing to a hose to the filtration pump in his swimming pool, asking, "What do you call this thing?  I know it's not a wire, but that's the closest thing I know of to describe it."  It was a total mystery to him that the level of water in the pool had gone down a lot because of a leak in that hose, which was near a drain; he had no idea where the water went.

I've had to explain to him to put pressure on a cut to stop it from bleeding.  And numerous other things that'd suggest to observers that if his family hadn't been rich, he couldn't've survived.

And yet, when it comes to the one subject that really interests him -- politics -- he's a genius.  He stunned 3 of us that he could remember a particular honoree from a fundraiser 2 yrs. earlier, as if everyone should be able to do that, & when he was out of the room we looked at each other gape-mouthed at how he could remember that detail that none of the rest of us would even try to conjure from memory.  So is he an idiot savant?  No, I don't think so.  He just hasn't bothered to learn many other facts or skills because he never had to & they were not interesting to him.

Heard a huge boom here on the east coast when SLOB-O fell off the U-Haul the other day.

But you've never heard of it NOT being hexagonal either, have you?  Just saying.
;D
Saturn has a hexagonal storm on one of its poles I think, but yeah - true.  Dodecahedron sounds much more exotic and interesting.

Does Linda have any clips of these booms or trumpets?

That Periscope he did driving through the desert with his wife and daughter narrating the rocks they passed was actually really interesting . . .

So, where are you guys at on the Kennedy murder these days? It's been over fifty years now, and you know what that means, right?

... Right? Right, y'all?

I've heard thunder that sounded like a really big tuba in GA!

It's a little adjustment--listening to Art so early in the night here on the West Coast.  I associate Art with late late night.  I can't imagine listening live at breakfast-time...but this is where the podcast is so valuable.  I  haven't even used the "Time Traveler" download function yet.

what a treat, though, to have Art back for real.

"Waaa-aaaaa!"

That commercial is so bad it's starting to grow on me.

Robert

Quote from: Gassy Man on July 22, 2015, 11:10:50 PMI used to think so.  I chalked it up to him being lazy.  But over the years, I've come to understand him to be stupid.  And possibly drunk.
He might well be drunk, but that's a choice too.
QuoteThe past few nights, I've also slipped over to the other show.  He's trying a little harder.  At least he sounds awake.  But his feeble attempts at conversation still pale in comparison to Art's.
You don't get up to speed overnight.  But if goes at it hard for a while & still can't, then I'd have to conclude it was indeed a talent difference.

yes she does Redacted, but most of them are rips from the Films Red State and the remake of War Of The Worlds, taken from the sound effects of those movies. Those trumpets sounds are what i mean, not the booms.

This is a lot better than LMH playing her tapes on that other show.

I vaguely remember that at least once she had one.  Mostly they're anecdotal stories, which are creepy by themselves.

What was this song that started to play before the break?

And from Ten-Ton Tommy playing the butt-trumpet, backing up Jorch when he croons the classics.

I'm in WV too. I've heard one of those booms a few years ago. It even shook the ground.

Thought it was dynamite from a nearby strip mine, but realized it came from another direction. It was almost dark, too. They usually blast only during the day.

It made the local news, but nobody had an explanation.

Strange.
It was getting dark when I heard it too, I was prepping for Liturgy the next day, the boom was so loud it drowned out my radio and shook the windows of house. It was very strange. Woke my wife up too
