Yay... got the download to work with Firefox.  It's not working in Chrome for me... probably something that I've set.

Has anyone else had luck downloading the files as a Time Travelers?  I can't get a download to initiate.

I haven't been able to download files yet, either.

It's a long wait, but you gotta try right clicking over the actual play button itself.

I was using Chrome, so I s'pose I'll try Firefox to download the next show.

henge0stone

By the way williedee where did you find all of those thousands of Art Bell shows anyway? Aside from Somewhere in Time they aren't anywhere. Dreamland's especially had to be hard to find since I think the last format they were on was cassette tapes.

AZZERAE

As a Time Traveler we get access to the show archive... But the show isn't uploaded yet at this time.

Surely it should be available directly after the show ends.

And the editing and clipping of the files was incredibly clumsy, I found.

Anyone else care to share their challenges with the archives?

After I cancelled my Time Traveler subscription yesterday upon realising that the paranormal news isn't included in the playback - I was sent a refund of my $5 back.
Though, it still doesn't make it fair for the people that pay don't get all the show, whereas the people that don't pay do.

I'll have to hope someone swashbuckles the program so I could -then- listen to the paranormal news. I would glady pay to hear the paranormal news as well, but as Keith said, 'it's a waste of time and space'. So I don't see the paranormal news being included in the playback anytime soon.

So, at least I got a refund of which I wasn't expecting, that's a positive from this.

Oh, come on!. $5 isn't much to support Art. The paranormal news is cool but that is no reason to cancel.

All in or nothing - I'm sure Art would understand, right? It's the principle of the thing for me and Keith's customer service was appalling. I don't want to pay for a service where the customer service is poor.

That's just me.

It's not just you.  I refuse to pay for a service that provides less content than I can get for free just by listening to the live show.  If I am paying for a show I want the entire show, not an edited version.  I understand why they can't include the music but cutting anything else is ridiculous. If they want to discourage piracy providing paying customers with an inferior experience is not the way to do it.  Also, if Keith seriously considers the paranormal news segment to be a "waste of time and space" why is it even being broadcast in the first place?  That's time and space that Art could be using to take one more call or ask one more question.

Hey does anybody know how to access the archive shows through a cellphone? is this possible? I'm blocked out at work for internet but I have an iPhone 4 (workcell) and my own crappy personal android so... im sure SOMEBODY has done this shit already?

missed the guest last night fell asleep like byatch and started to listen before I left for work and the shit was really interesting.  so yeah...

The paranormal news is cool but its really just news at the end of the day. Not every commercial is paranormal news too you would also get that screaming B!tch. I can't fathom someone being upset that the download cut out the commercials for them.

I've heard people say this type of stuff about Keith before, which is why I'm a little weary of even contacting him about any of my concerns I've expressed here.

I don't want to cancel my subscription, but I do live in hope this is not all a subscription will get us.

Unfortunately if we're having such issues on our PC's, I highly doubt the archive can be accessed via cellphone.

I'm kinda bummed out the commercials are cut. I recorded the Open Lines/Test stream straight onto my PC, because I initially planned to build and edit my own personal archive. Even though I am a paid subscriber/Time Traveler.

The live show had so much more energy to it. Unfortunately when I tried to record the Graham Hancock show live, the live stream kept cutting out and buffering numerous times and I wound up not being able to record it.

I am by no means a Dave bot, but I have to say the Coast Insider set up is far superior. These are early days, I get it, but I have a funny feeling this is all we're gonna get and have to be grateful for it. I mean, as a Coast insider they cut the bumper music out but the whole audio file is there without any clicks or sentences cut out.

The best parts, for me as an Art Bell fan are when he leads into and comes out of a break. Intro and outro stuff he begins and wraps up with too.

Anyone else feel this way?

henge0stone

The music getting cut out is a copyright issue. Even Mysterious Universe (which used podsafe music in the past) cuts the songs short. I wish they didn't cut them so short but its what it is. A lot of old Art bell shows had the bumper music cut short so its nothing new. I wish it was one single MP3 file that's my only complaint but its not that big a deal really. 5 dollars for about 20 shows isn't bad at all.

EDIT: Just listened to the last part of the show last night (I feel asleep) Keith kept most of the Midnight in the Desert in the outro! THanks Keith! Really awesome.

The only issue I've had downloading the files is traffic on the site. If I can get them when they are fresh before everyone else is in, no worries. If I get in a bit later, it takes a while for the download link to kick off.

I could care less if it's 3 files or 1, I usually listen to the mp3s on AALinQ on my droid and it handles the names well. I use this for a lot of audio books also. If I really wanted to merge them it would not be an issue. I've even seen instructions posted here.

Don't need the music, and with the cost of rights, I'd rather have the archive than none at all. Especially when my schedule dictates I won't be up late every night. If one wants the entirety, I'm sure one could sus out how to make the files for themselves.  No, I am not advocating this action. I want to support Art being on the radio as much as I can.

The paranormal news would be fun to have, but yeah not necessary. The freaky commercials would be fun at times as well, they make me laugh mostly.

Nor can I. It's a shame about the bumper music, but you have to keep the costs down- which is what they're doing.

Ten years from now, we'll be thankful to have any of this archived. Think about how precious some of those old Art Bell shows are.

It just goes to show you can't please everybody.

AZZERAE

I'm appalled, quite frankly at the abrupt cuts at the intro, and before and after breaks.

Something tells me Art wouldn't approve of the audio files we're getting as Time Travelers.

It needs to be brought to his attention, and fast.

cosmotherobot

I'd like the archives to work via RSS - the authenticating  part doesn't seem to work.

We have 3:20 minutes of midnight in the Desert at the end of the last show. The cuts leave little imagination but as long as we have basically the entire outro song I'm satisfied.

I'm sorry to be such a buzzkill.

I'm not about to cancel my subscription, I love Art regardless.

It's just strange to know why he left Sirius, and then when things aren't perfect on the audio provided for us as Time Travelers its being overlooked. I don't want him to go away. But I also think fans are trying to make do with what they've received... and that ain't right.

albrecht

The way I see it if you "donate" or become a "Time Traveler" than you should be able to record the stream (for your personal archiving and use) if you don't like the "official" mp3 downloads from the website. It is easy to do and free and with much of the software you can schedule a recording time and which stream you wish to record (mp3, or ACC, or from the SW) and record the whole show (including the commercials, music, and news items.) This can be done on your smartphone, or your computer, or if you have certain CC Crane radio/player products.

Now, I'm sure this is not "officially" sanctioned but morally I think there is nothing wrong with doing this for personal replaying if you have already joined or donated but are frustrated with the mp3 archive provided by the Time Traveler site.

aldousburbank

I'd like to have MITD downloaded directly to my brain while I sleep so that I can listen as soon as I wake up without having to get out of bed. And I want the damn bumper music in there too damnit!

You guys really love to complain.

I actually really, really don't!

This is the one thing I care about enough to discuss, however.

Isn't that what a forum is for? to share these things with the like-minded??

Yes - we are in agreement here.

Also, if the show has only just started and Keith is already complaining about wasting 'time and space' then how are things going to be regarding 'time and space' after a month of shows?
Why should I pay for something of which I can get the exact same thing with no paranormal news at the bottom of the hour elsewhere on the Internet?

Is this a conspiracy? (jk!)

Your complaints don't make sense. Well, they do make sense but they have already been explained. The music is a copyright issue which is why there are abrupt cuts before and after the breaks. What else is wrong with the audio quality? I found the quality in the audio to be very good, please explain what is wrong with it?

Asadora your complaint makes even less sense. paranormal news is during commercial breaks, why should I pay for something with commercial breaks in it?  If I'm paying 5 dollars a month I expect there to be no bloody commercials. What you get for 5 dollars is every show that month. If you don't pay you can not listen at your leisure, whats so hard to understand?

I have emailed Keith re. the dysfunctional archives and so far no joy.  This is old tech.-if this does not get fixed, Art needs to get a new webmaster-This archive situation is going to cost Art subscribers and ultimately the show. I am giving it 2 more days then I will bail.

For those that do not know I am referring to the pause/play and download not working.  Also the old tech. 3 segment instead of one.

Flood them w/ emails--Art I hope you are reading this.

Such a disappointment!!!!

Why should I pay for something that does not work?

The download does not work.  the pause/play does not work--I am not the only one-I have talked to others w/ the same issues.
