BIG SUNSPOT GETS BIGGER: The sun's headlong plunge into solar minimum has been interrupted by the surprise emergence of a big sunspot. Wide enough to swallow Earth with room to spare, AR2529 doubled in size over the weekend. The behemoth is now being photographed by amateur astronomers around the world and closely monitored by NASA spacecraft. Visit http://spaceweather.com for more information.

Hello Bella-Haven, 73s here. Just wanted to say hi. I'm new to BellGab but I've lurked for many months.

I think this thread might be more my speed, you all seem pretty easy going!

Hi!

Hi IB! Thanks for greeting me in the "meet and greet" the other day too.  :D

I would go for coffee but I'm actually not a night person (a rarity on BG I'm sure). I used to live in Arizona so I could catch Art's old shows before midnight.

Getting ready to hit the bed here. But will be brewing up some coffee first thing in the morning for sure.

You're also on the east coast, right? I seem to recall a post about that once.

Yes, east coast! I'm drinking a Seagrams Escapes Calypso Colada and I'm fading fast as well!

Hi Serenity.

I used to love 6 m (the "magic" band) but these days don't do much hamming, sadly. When I do I'm usually on CW. I'll do SSB on 17 but otherwise CW on the other bands. In recent years I've been much more involved with homebrew, hence the avatar (I really like that one, pretty much looks like my workbench, along with the coffee too). I have several transceiver kits I've built up and one rig I designed myself. Loads of fun for sure. The main thing keeping me from working on it now is time.

How about yourself?

Cw, ssb and some digital. Old time Heathkit fan but fell for Elecraft. Built a K1, K2/100 and a KX3 . Still have my old HW8 and a few other gems from the past. Usually can be found on Southcars or 7.260 and run Cw (though poorly) on lower 20meters. Helped add some points for some folks in the Ga Qso party today. Love it when 10 meters opens or 6. Retired, do a few hours at lowes and ham radio plus the radio station/blog. Thats me in a nutshell

Simple rules really, don't insult anyone's coffee. Expect to see any combination of food and non-food with bacon. If you are the first one in the morning, make coffee, or the last one out at night, shut off the lights and ceiling fan.
