Morning all. Skype worked ok last night off and on. I guess Art had problems as well. I checked out the chat room but didn't advertise it due to past problems. BTW wr250 was using skype for Linux and it worked ok.
It was just good to have nancy back. Work in progress as it were.

I forgot you wouldn't be around but sent you a message just in case. ;)
The bigger question is why use Skype?, many other better options

Ubuntu has become so BLOATED it as bad windows.
For a Linux server Ubuntu is OK, but as a OS its bloated, i prefer CentOS for a server, it runs my home theater and never a issue.

I'm trying to put the voices and names together, well at least for the guys.  I pretty much know which voice is Nancy's lol. ;D

i run debian sid, which is the rolling debian experimental release. frequent kernel update are the issue, skype (and vmware) do not like that.

Good morning all; had my coffee, listening to Nancy & co ....

IMHO Skype is being used so widely is because Art chose to use this medium and encouraged others to put on phone and tablets and computers as a way to communicate with him.   I realize that GabCast has also used Skype before Art returned to us ... but don't think it was pushed out quite so heavily.  Also, as you mention Barfly, there are many other better options ... but would these other options be so easy to teach the average listener to use?  Skype seems to be the easiest for the majority of people; this is Just my 2-cents, for what its worth ...

(for me, I let go of skype years ago, but because of all these shows, have again downloaded and have skype set up -- just in case, I want to call in)

Good morning wr250!  ;D  Good morning Ms. C!  ;D

I kept Debian rolling release on one computer, then when Deepin came out, I kept that on the other.

I used Linux for the previous decade, till Windows 10 Tech Preview came out.
i know this isnt the thread for this but here goes :

most of $micro$oft$ privacy issues are no worse than apples, or googles. however, if you want to use bitlocker (ms encryption) the bitlocker key WILL be uploaded to $micro$oft$ servers, where on a whim they may give out to whoever asks. this defeats the purpose of encryption. the key should be backed up to a removable medium then stored off site , and not with the backups (which may be encrypted with said key).
additionally the windows 10 EULA states that $micro$oft may access your computer if it feels you are a danger to :
1: someones copyright
2. you are doing some illegal acts with said computer
3. $micro$oft feels you are pirating something
4. $micro$oft wants to.

We're all trolls on this bus.

I think it was You I heard talking about the Nicholas Tesla Time Traveler. It was fun listening to You. Callers talking about open-lines callers, a very entertaining idea IMO.

Lilith

I went to WiseFrogs chat for a short while some years back. Heard some of his tunes on YouTube.

An eon ago I was curious about Microsoft's Project Azure. I then ran across one of their white papers about "Trustworthy Computing".  After reading through the document, I determined. a trustworthy computer is not to be trusted by the user. If I could keep my kids away from the touch screens I could keep Windows 10 out of the house, for a while at least.

I think this is the paper I read. Basically, IMO you have no expectation of any type of privacy.

I'm Happy Nancy is OK, we were all really worried and upset. I have high hopes if Lou takes the show in the direction I heard, and saw here in the Bella-Haven thread at bellgab, last Friday.

Yeah I think he will Produce the show. I am still going ahead with the Train-Wreck-A-Thon this weekend and next weekend a full Bella-Havathon.
And yes she sure did sound happy. Glad she's back

You are so right. I was wearing Bill's headset and noticed the hot sound on the waveform. There's probably a way to tone it down in Audacity ... and since this thread has some Audacity adherents, maybe this is a common fix.
ummm... nope, no fix in audacity... once you overdrive your mic-pre(amp), you've created a clipped/distorted waveform (signal)... and there's no fixing that after the fact... such is the nature of "raw" radio...

suggestion - do try to balance the caller's levels with each other... chris' "feed" level relative to yours was way too low...

great show, btw... thank you...

LW

Bella-Haven blew up, hmmm, who would of thought.

Let it die people, for a show that was to talk about Arts guests and support his show it was a big failure.

Lets set aside the personalities, arrogance and self absorbed people, the show did more harm to Art than good. Its not going to be the so called haters, which is code for people in the real world, it will be narcissists like this that would cause a person to hang it up and say screw it.

Just fade into the shadows and give Midnight in the desert a chance.

Damn talk about enemy within.

Welcome to Bella-Haven the feminist talk show.

It's an asteroid, isn't it WC. And the gov't is keeping the info under wraps.

After 'their' plan is in play, we would of been relieved if it had only been an asteroid.
Haarp, Fukushima and global warming (changed to climate change, to throws us off) are only small pieces of their master plan.

Ever notice that dental offices are alway warm and dentists' hands are cold.
Hope you don't have any composite tooth filings or tooth implants.
If so, pull those teeth out before its to late. With a pair of pliers you can save the world.

I'm sure 'they' are monitoring every form of communications, so can't be more explicit.
Don't trust anyone, 'they' have been planning The September break out since 1947.
