I'm behind on work and will be up for the next two hours.  So sick and tired of Eben Alexander - who's been thoroughly debunked - being trotted out on paranormal shows.  Here's the thing that all these near-death experiencers have never been able to answer: When does the NDE actually occur?  Dualists claim it happens while the brain is dead.  However, materialists claim that it could just as easily happen when the brain is coming back and the memory gets placed into that time period as the brain is sorting itself back out.

Do I want NDEs to be proof of an afterlife?  ¡Claro que sí!

But until the "when" question is answered, count me among the boring materialists.  And as for Eben, he's living the American dream -- a guy who likely made critical mistakes during some of his neurosurgeries, had an admittedly horrible medical condition that he probably would have died from, and survived, and from the story he's built surrounding it, has made more money selling that story to the masses than he ever could as a neurosurgeon.  But whether his story is "proof of heaven," count me as a disbeliever.
