I think Richard just likes to have conversations with people and goes with it. I'm not bitching. In truth, I think Art should probably hold some callers longer than he does.

Art has way to many callers to do that I think. Hoagie can do it because the caller queue isn't huge

I just figured it out a possible solution (maybe?) and came back.  It's probably all ejecta.  I will guess that Ceres has a crust made of ice.  Everytime it's hit by a rocky body, Ceres' gravity is so low that the material all gets ejected out, orbits the asteroid for awhile, then comes back down over the entire surface.  Hence, a dark surface dusting over an icy layer, globally.  Then the most recent impacts would have exposed the ice at the point of impact and it wouldn't have had a chance to be covered back over yet.

Fucking right, it doesn't occur in a metallic form in nature. It was worth WAY more and was WAY more prestigious than gold at one time. Then someone invented an easy way to refine it and now it's something we make pepsi cans out of.

It is one of the most common metals in the crust of the earth, which means you don't have to mine it. The previous process was a very low yield, complicated chemical separation that was extremely costly.  All of the reagents were very expensive as well.

Then, Charles Hall, the founder of Alcoa, discovered you can put a cathode and anode in a solution and the metallic aluminium would easily crystallize! Job done!

Yes, Whataburger is great. You can order what you want, seriously, and people are nice and burgers are good, though they are a big outfit so I wouldn't say local but still good. Dan's (local) is awesome also. They shut down one last year to rebuild/remod one of their stores for many months....kept all on pay-roll and hired them back even. Now In-And-Out opened one a couple blocks away from it. Wally's, Dirty's, Sandy's, etc also always good (and cheap.) One reason I'm for the locals, although In-n-Out have good corporate record also. Out of state, Dick's in Spokane also is excellent and keeping it real and cheap.

I'll have to go to Dan's when I'm up that way! For sure!

It's just a different show/style. He's always going to take longer and take more questions than the typical radio host would because he's not the typical radio host. Would it be better if he cut callers off quicker?? Maybe? Maybe not. I tend to think the best things happen when you just go with the flow.

Yay for Charles Hall! Aluminum is useful stuff. Hoagland was right in that large planets aren't really the ideal place to go for gold, which calls Sitchen's work into question. But I would also question why they'd want gold in the first place, its uses are limited when compared to other metals like aluminum or titanium.

Well, that and the fact that it's easier to just build a bunch of robotic gold miners instead of breeding slaves. And if you did breed slaves, you'd want them to not like gold in order to keep them from stealing it.
