So, I take it his guest is a Scientologist then?  ???

Unfortunately for the sake of his audience, tonight's guest is merely the most boring science fiction writer I have ever heard; a Scientologist might actually be an improvement.

Albrecht and I were talking under our breath about another, different episode.  I apologise for any confusion I may have caused.  :-[

Apparently there were some wires crossed or party-line misunderstandings (anyone remember that!)  But, on the good side, RCH seems to have telecommunications down to a rural 60's standard. Or I couldn't figure out how to listen by his 90s 'hotdog" design geocities-esque website. Oh well. All was fun.

Hoagie tonight claimed he got Roddenberry to change the term "standard orbit" to "synchronous orbit" on the original Star Trek in its 3rd season...

Yes, I heard that earlier as well.  I'm sure a call to the Roddenberry estate would put paid to that dubious claim.

Apparently, Roddenberry was a stickler for keeping detailed records of outside contributions to his various film and television projects (I suppose he had little choice, what with Hollywood being so litigious).  Sean David Morton made some bogus claim about selling Gene a script or something and Roddenberry's archivist couldn't find a single mention of his name after the guy who runs the ufowatchdog.com site put in a polite phone call to the estate.

No doubt a similar phone call placed to verify Hoagland's claim would net the same result. :)

Is anyone else still tuned in?  Or has the last lifeboat departed the RMS Hoagland?

Is this whole show about mentally unstable people?

No, it's about Trump supporters.  Oh, wait...............

anunnaki

Hoagland mentioned briefly about Mars coming closest years ago and some astronomer (?) requesting our Gov't to briefly shut down certain transmissions in order to tune in/listen to Mars for possible transmissions, which they did receive. When decoded it showed a face similar-but not the same as a Human.

Can anyone add to this with more detail/names/photos ?

With your trailer buried so deeply in the northern woods, do you ever get lost and unable to find your way home?

So MV doesn't have age restrictions on Bellgab..??
Even freaking 4chan has age restrictions.
One time somebody was losing an argument with me on 4chan and they asked me how old I was.
As a joke I answered that I'm 13, and I got banned like in 30 minutes for 30 freaking days.
But that's OK because after only 15 or 20 minutes I was back posting again, LOL :)
-and funny thing is that my post where I said that I was 13 was deleted

I guess you have all those wee forest people to help you find your way.
I know you are addressing this to the Doc, but if this refers to finding way to Bellgab I don't think it's that complicated.
Just follow the intense smell of stench and you are "home"  ;)

You dumb fucks can't even figure out that you've been played.  Now you'd best get to bed - tomorrow morning is gubmint cheese day and you want to be at the head of line to get the good stuff.

I have heard about this 1924 event off and on over the years, but have never been able to find a detailed, definitive, and wholly trustworthy account of exactly what happened.

That said, you can view a picture (albeit a relatively small one) of the "radio photo message" in the comments section here:

http://www.shorpy.com/node/12482

(Disclaimer: Lots of old, habit-forming black-and-white photos can be found on Shorpy; claims for loss of time due to endlessly clicking around the site gawping at them will not be honoured.)

Here (under "Marconi-Todd: Observations and Experimentation (1899-1924)") you can find another account:

https://web.archive.org/web/20120306205215/http://www.n-atlantis.com/historicradio.htm

...as well as a footnote (#19) describing how the photosensitive paper in the Jenkins Radio-Camera was advanced by a motor approximately an inch every half-hour...except during the "Martian" broadcast an entire 25-foot strip was exposed rather than the 4-foot strip that should have been exposed during the roughly 24-hour period they recorded on the device.  Whoops!

Finally, here:

http://earlyradiohistory.us/mars.htm

...you can read about how, just as you might expect, Professor Todd had very little luck in persuading radio stations on Earth to stop transmitting for five minutes every hour for two days in order to allow him to hear the "Martians."

In any case, if you come across a better account somewhere, please be sure to post the link.  :)

Nice work, this reminds me. Sorta on subject but not really but this is BG. You recall Peter Davenport advocating using cell towers and radio towers for a passive radar system to 'catch' UFOs and other astronomic activity (or could be used for defense purposes also?) He, I think it was on with Art after a quittening, and went on about using civilian equipment, distributed personal computer power, and civilian stuff to do so? It seemed like an interesting idea but I haven't heard much about it since though apparently "it" is being investigated by non-UFO types of people/agencies.
