(without the fuel islands, can I still call it a "truck stop?")

Sadly wotr1, I don't think so.  Thank you for your story, and the link.    I can see why the "pink" would remind you :)

WOTR

I did finish the first video and just love how life comes full circle (meeting the woman from all those years ago...)  And, I love you demeanor and way of talking.

Anyhow, the Blackfoot was always a "diner."  They own a lot of paved land, so the trucks have a place to park and (Husky?) installed pumps and a small store.  They took down the diesel island and I suppose that it is just known as the "Blackfoot truck stop" although it may only ever have been a "diner."

It is in Inglewood.  Once run down- it is now inner city with "infills" worth well over a million.  I'm sure they want the Blackfoot and the trucks gone, and I do not know how a diner can pay the land taxes.

There is a Flying J travel plaza, a Roadking plaza, another large plaza (Esso?) and a small Husky truckstop.  I cannot imagine that the Blackfoot will make another decade- but I'm hoping.

I can also tell you that I have been all over the US (sometimes bringing a truck back, sometimes a car and sometimes just on vacation.)  One day I will have to write up my review of Tracy city TN and one in Mississippi (both of which stick out for various reasons.)

You had mentioned that you like this site, and that you found that often times you did not share the same sense of humour as the truckers... I'm guessing that often times this site reminds you of them? (Poor humour, but overall somewhat kind and willing to let everybody just "be"?)

LOL's when you mentioned the truck stop humor, and the BellGab Forum, I had exactly the same thought running through my mind as I said the words in the video.  I was feeling the irony *giggles*.  I dunno, maybe it showed.  The words "Let it be" have gone through my mind OFTEN in life.  Well, yes, I have no doubt the big Travel Plazas were one of the reasons our little truck stop world ended, but maybe with the world and the "global economy" the way it is, the little family owned places will be needed again, and I HOPE your Blackfoot will remain standing and thrive.  I am glad there is someone else with truck stop stories to tell, and happy you spoke up.  I have a comical one to tell.  I am older now, and I have to think a while to organize my memories into an understandable listen or read.  A story is a moment in time that you understand in relationship to all the events around it at the time, and I have to keep that in mind so that I can let the person who didn't experience the history, understand the story.....and of course, one does not want to give away any identities, in order to protect the innocent. (Or NOT so innocent, as the case may be)  I have a "mean girls" story to tell about us sweet girls at the diesel/gas station section of the truck stop.  It was very very funny to us at the time, and helped us deal with some of the frustrations, like rush traffic when everyone in the mile long line needs waited on immediately.  Mind you, all of us but the "new girls in training" were able to provide that in a friendly and efficient way, unlike many of the cashiers I come across these days, sad to say.

I have to tell you, one of my favorite posters (Besides Art of course) is Falkie.......which yeah, I know he doesn't "go" by that anymore.  I laugh myself silly watching his videos.  Just thinking about him makes me laugh. I would have never seen Falkie, had I not arrived at The BellGab forum, so indeed, I DO like it here :D
