The Democrats buried themselves by creating all of the black supermajority Congressional districts.  Sure it resulted in the election of loyal black representatives (Sheila Jackson Lee, Corrine Brown, Mel Watt), but it meant that there are few blacks outside those districts, so the other districts have gone Republican, and without blacks living in the districts, the Republicans have little interest in them.  It's an example of be careful what you wish for.

That is so 1990s.

The Rethuglic gerrymandering in Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Michigan had notihing to do with black supermajority districts.

That said. The Rethuglics won 57% of the seats in the House with a 53% 2 party vote (51.4-45.9%) in 2014 which is not at all out of line for a FPTP system.
