Trouble at Top Gear

I love a good fracas.

Did they really need to post two almost identical photos next to each other? Yes lets put up one with his mouth slightly open and another one almost the same with him turned to the side a little. Yes that's the ticket.

Well, The Daily Mail are obnoxious in every way possible.

Uh oh.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2988412/Top-Gear-s-Jeremy-Clarkson-suspended-BBC-fracas-producer.html

He panders to blue-collar workers whose interests are beer, birds, whippet racing, and casual racism.

He does it well, but isn't clever enough to properly couch his racism in terms that satisfy racists yet can't be actioned against, hence his current predicament.

bateman, your new look of disapproval is scaring me!

what? did Jeremy Clarkson say the "N"-word again or something???

Boo-Yah! CALLED IT BITCHEZ!

I can see the future, me. Perhaps now, Jorch can botch an interview with me!

albrecht

Word is SAE oklahoma chapter has offered him a bid. Kidding. These days you are better off being a pedophile and rapist, especially at the BBC, than have an accusation of racism against you. Savile was never suspended for his actions but say the wrong thing, even as a joke or in private....watch out! Offending someone's sensibilities is much worse than raping them. Even speaking out about the BBC cover-up and actions of a child sex rapist will get you in trouble. Priorities.

Damn, that's too bad. It was only a matter of time before he messed up again. His attitude suggests it.

Regardless, Clarkson will land on his feet wherever he ends up.

Suspended doesn't mean fired (yet), but the BBC said they gave his 'final warning' this past year.

I can't stand that guy. He is a creep of the highest order. I thought that was rather obvious.

I'm sure he's quaking in his boots

mfw - he was "forced" to sell out his 49% share of Top Gear recently... to the tune of MILLIONS and MILLIONS and MILLIONS

small wonder he always has such a smug look on his gob

Rest of the season has been cancelled

Quote"The next two episodes of Top Gear will not be broadcast and it's understood that a third programme, the final of the series, in unlikely to be transmitted."

The key word is "yet." I just think all these threats are poking the bear. Clarkson could make a good living elsewhere if he wanted.

I love Top Gear, but I wonder where else they can go with the show. Maybe Clarkson is struggling against a new direction?

bateman

Since he doesn't have an ownership stake anymore, he's just an employee. Makes it that much easier to fire him.

To your previous point, I think the show is as entertaining as ever, personally.

Well, it's certainly a sad state of affairs when it becomes an INTERNATIONAL INCIDENT and a bit of a slippery SLOPE when a TV presenter cannot even be granted the EENY, MEENY, MINY MOE'est leeway when it comes to pointing out the FACIAL WARTS on modern society. If only these LAZY and FECKLESS critics could just TROT off to INDIA, perhaps and spew their filth elsewhere...

lol, he is a racist wanker

I love Jeremy Clarkson. I love everything about Top Gear. It's my favorite show bar none.

If the bbc cancels the show or fires Jeremy. I seriously will be devestated. It'll be akin to losing Art from the air waves.

I don't care how bad of a fight it was. You know what, shit happens on sets. Fights happen. I've seen stuff said that would get people sued in the corporate world but that's the difference, that's corporate and this is art. And yes Top Gear is art. Every shot, edit, music cue, segment, is work of art and beauty. Even the purely comedic ones.
Hopefully the bbc understands this and gets things straightened out.

SaucyRossy

Also, they are trying to make light over the fact that the fight was over catering.

A few things to note.

Catering on a film set is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. I can't emphasize it enough. I've seen a whole crew walk off a set after working 12 hours straight when they went to eat the food was all gone because extras had eaten it when the crew had another 8 hours of filming to do after they were supposed to eat.

So, maybe it was about the whole crews food and not just Jeremy's. Even if it was just about his meal, low blood sugar and a long day of filming does some crazy things to people.

Yorkshire pud

He threw a punch at a producer. Would your employer tolerate that on the premises? Dilemma: TG makes a lot of money for the BBC, but they can't have one rule for one and a different one for others. And he hit Piers Morgan at a press awards dinner... that might sway it!

Clarkson is well read. He's no dummy.

Clarkson is a hero for hitting Piers Morgan (his show on CNN was terrible,) and there is no doubt he was involved in the whole phone hacking deal at the Mirror. At any rate, Top gear has also gone through its share of bad publicity lately... and I think this may be the one incident that marks the end of his tenure on the show. Sadly enough.

/I really like Top Gear a lot, and I'm not even a big car guy.

albrecht

Having heard that Clarkson hit Murdoch's former golden-boy Piers Morgan made me like him even more. Hopefully he will make a new show but I can understand if he just wants to retire with his money and leave the politically-correct world to the crappy shows. (But maybe he could get his job back at the BBC if he became a pedophile?)

It's true: an unfed/poorly fed crew is steps away from mutiny. Personally, I get rather pissy when I'm hungry.

Clarkson/Hammond/May is a winning formula. I hope the BBC doesn't break that up.

If Clarkson is sacked (Strictly I'm not sure he's directly employed, he probably has a company that is contracted) by the Beeb, May and Hammond won't do the show. The chemistry will be non existent. It does put the Beeb in a very difficult position though.

Yorkshire pud

Apparently...the 'fracas' occurred in a hotel the crew on TG stay at frequently when they're filming in Yorkshire (Other counties are apparently in existence); and it happened over something to do with ingratitude over a meal..

You heard it here first 'Yorkshire man is sacked because of a twatting in Yorkshire.

Couple things. 1. Latest reports are he may quit even if he's 'cleared' after the internal investigation. 2. Sky has been courting him for years, and they would pay him a hell of a lot more than than the £1 mil a year he gets at BBC to jump ship. 3. His contract is up this month.

I don't see him sticking it out at the Beeb.

Go to sky, bring may and hammond. Sky will give them the biggest budgets for episodes they won't even know what to do with it. Seriously, the bbc are idiots for making a big deal out of every little thing. Half the shit he's said or done wouldn't even be news over here.

Lord Grantham

All three of their contracts end this month at the BBC. Only thing is that BBC owns the format of the show so any new series will have to be started from scratch.

They are SO high profile over there though, every little thing is under the microscope. And yes, I could see Sky easily doubling or tripling their salaries.

£50 mil a year cash cow, apparently. And they'd have to pay out 'penalty payments' for failing to air the final episodes.

He wouldn't pull that shit in America. Someone would hit him back. I'm guessing he threw a punch at the smallest guy on the set.
