Even when Knapp brings up topics I'm not initially that intrigued by, he'll use them to reveal a picture of related elements that I find compelling.  We get a background context and an intersection of various forces at work which often makes the journey worth taking.  Both stories fit that description for me tonite.

He does a good job, but I must be tired. He sounds a little more disjointed than usual. Having troubles keeping up with the flow.

Mainly the first topic. Probably because I have heard other interviews about Altamont and that guest sounded like a burn out to me.

Any sentient, surviving San Francisco music critic, who was around then, will sound a little burnt-out now!

I would have enjoyed a second hour, too.

Agreed!

The Hughes show was outstanding, Knapp excels when it comes to shows dealing with Vegas lore.  Disappointed no one, guests or callers, brought up the story of Hughes allegedly faking his own death as told by the two authors Syrett had on a few weeks back.  At a couple points, it sounded as if the two narratives tended to support one another.  In the two interviews, I heard nothing that indicated anything in the one story invalidated the other.

Weak ass Mexican internet here in Baja Norte.  Can you give me the link? Or just Art Bell Radio on TuneIn like I'm trying to listen to?

Xtreme1

Yes, that is what I'm listening on is the Tune In App. I'm sorry your not getting decent delivery.

Could be an interesting and fun show! National Lampoon magazine was just friggin' hilarious.

"OTOY Inc. is a cloud graphics company, pioneering technology that is redefining content creation and delivery for media and entertainment organizations. Jules Urbach, founder and CEO joins George Knapp to discuss his company's ground-breaking technology, providing unprecedented creative freedom that will lead to new levels of realism powered by the cloud. First hour guest, National Lampoon veteran Tony Hendra will discuss the 35-year history of the comedy/satire group, and the new album, which recaptures the spirit of National Lampoon's glory years, while applying it to the pretensions and hypocrisies of 21st century America."

Picked up a bottle of Kilbeggan just an hour ago. Perhaps I'll join the party on here tonight, at least for the first hour.

I still have my copy of the infamous Lampoon "death issue", perhaps the single most tasteless issue of a "main stream" monthly publication in modern history.  The "Playdead" magazine parody of "Playboy" still cracks me up, particularly the "Stiffs of Sweden" pictorial and their interview of a very dead Dan Blocker.

National Lampoon also predicted the "crazy clown" phenomena in a way with the bitter and angry "Frenchy the Evil Clown"- the clown who always was getting high, being hungover, screwing ladies and hookers, etc.

I also remember the "National Lampoon Radio Hour" syndicated show from the 70s.  It was aired on Sunday evenings on WEBN in Cincinnati, not uncommon for a group of us to gather in a dorm room with a few pizzas and a twelve pack to listen.  Many of those bits went on be included on the Lampoon comedy albums.

I have a few precious ounces left of my Ardbeg 10 which I'll be nursing tonite.  My favorite review of it called it a 'caramel-coated bonfire' haha.

Curious about both guests tonite, looking forward to the show.

Looking forward to tonight's show.  I wish it was a full 4 hours regarding National Lampoon stuff though.  Nonetheless....Knapp.  8)

Same, do bad they make Knapp do the dreaded "split-show format." National Lampoon guy could easily fill a full show with funny stories and anecdotes about people who later became famous. Also because Norry seems to think he invented it and what a great business idea it is and explains it so eloquently "if a listener uh doesn't like the guest or ah subject he will turn off the radio but if there is another guest they will still listen." Brilliance. -GNS
Knapp tonight.

Ditto.  If I'm lucky, I may only make the first hour, anyway.  I've scored some Woodchuck Fall Harvest hard cider, so I may tap one of those smooth honeys.  "Just like apple pie..."  :)
