I was never a fan of Goldthwiate's shtick but when he drops it he's surprisingly engaging and entertaining. Knapp's depth in pop culture kept him right in the groove with Goldthwaite's "inside Hollywood" stories.  I won't be surprised to see Bobcat back occasionally with GK...assuming Premiere doesn't drive Knapp away. Dull-as-Dirt Noory or I'm-SOOO-Cool Wells would have certainly cratered with this guest.

Windy City Heat is worth watching if you enjoy an obviously retarded person having a ten year long prank pulled on them.
Perhaps the least sympathetic retarded person as well. There are some absoutely hilarious scenes in that movie, like Perry being "fitted" for a thong by a gay designer in his trailer.

Hot to Trot... goddamn

The only reason I saw that film...it was hot as hell on Monday, Aug 29, 1988 and the movie theater had great AC. I saw a lot of bad movies that summer merely for the privilege of sitting in AC.

Yeah, I meant to qualify that with the guy being a fairly crappy person. He's so easily manipulated precisely because of his huge ego. I have the DVD with the commentary and the "reveal," and he still believes the movie is real to this day.

Shakes the Clown was good, and Windy City Heat is worth watching if you enjoy an obviously retarded person having a ten year long prank pulled on them.

I thought last night was really good. I loved hearing about the back-stabbing bitchery in the ranks of MUFON.

Very interesting indeed, the rather direct shots at guys like Greer and Morton kept me tuned in.

...so much cooler talking in a normal voice...
So I knew that Knapp was going to do another bigfoot show, and I'm thinking "great, another Knapp bigfoot show where he goes on and on about his new girlfriend, Melba ketchum, and he's determined to be the only person in the world that's gonna defend her, and unless someone pulls into his driveway in a pick up truck with one tied up in the back he needs to really just drop the whole bigfoot thing," and I tune in about 30 minutes late, and I'm hearing this guy who seems smart, and funny, and his voice sounds oddly familiar, and then I realize its Bobcat Goldthwait.  Bobcat Goldthwait?  What?  Huh?  The annoying guy from twenty years ago?  Yeah.  Him.  I was impressed.  And he said something that struck a nerve: "I'm 51.  I should start speaking my mind."  Cool.  Bob Ecker not so much.  One of Knapp's best shows.

interesting tidbit that Don Ecker mentioned last night, around 1989 John Lear was MUFON state director (Nevada?)

Carelessness is the mother of shame and embarrassment.  I will do better.

I like what a bitch Don Ecker is. After hearing him interviewed by Knapp I've started listening to Dark Matters.

Wow, sorry you didn't like that show.  I really liked the bobcat interview and the other one wasn't noticeably terrible for me.  Hell I don't think for a moment that there is an undiscovered species of ape in the U.S. and I still enjoyed the entire interview.

I think that's a better impersonation of Sam Kinison than Bobcat.

Just saying...

Good catch.I remember listening to a Sam Kinison CD at full volume while driving on the 10 through Texas (it was like hour 25 of my drive). That CD will keep you awake. All those volume changes he did to deliver his lines.

I've made a point to look for Knapp and Punnet shows on YouTube now that I am no longer a stinklink member. It just occurred to me that maybe a thread that holds YouTube videos of recent shows might help people listen to the shows they want to hear. Not sure if this would cause a headache for MV as PremRad served up a cease and desist regarding the posting of sound files to the site.

What do you guys think?

I think with the closure of Fine Art, the youtube stuff may be the next to go.

New shows are reliably posted at the pirate bay also.

So, it is true then that Clear Channel (money grubbing devil spawned whores) sent a cease and desist letter to Linden regarding Fine Art? I thought maybe my Tune-In Radio app was down. Do you know where else I can find old Art shows?

onan

I know Gandalf50 has a site. Another site funklobaldy... not sure of the actual site name. There are several poorly seeded art bell files on the pirate bay.

Tonight's topics from the coasttocoastam.com website (I thought adding this might put later discussions into context):

Suppressed Stories

First Half: Joining George Knapp, publisher of suppressed works, Kris Millegan, talks about his recent press conference titled "Hidden Dynamics: Narcotics, Secret Societies, Intelligence Agencies and Generational Politics."

2nd Half: Amy Waters Yarsinske, a former naval intelligence officer, will discuss the incredible story of denial, deceit, and deception that ultimately cost Navy pilot Captain Michael Scott Speicher his life after the government left him behind.

Juan

Since I live in Scott Spiecher's home town, I've followed his story for more than 20 years.  Amy Waters Yarsinske added a lot.  In brief, he was shot down on the first night of the Gulf War by friendly fire, ejected and landed in the desert.  He hid, set out markers, made radio contact, but our forces never went in to rescue him.  Though we did go in and take sensitive material off of his FA-18.  According to Yarsinske, Spiecher lived with Bedouins, and continued to leave markers for about 4-years until Saddam caught him.

I remember the 2003 Iraq invasion. Senator Bill Nelson, one of many legislators who kept the story going, released information that made us think Scott would be found by US forces.  In fact, within months after the war, Nelson inspected a cell that had initials left there by Scott.  Unfortunately, Scott's body was eventually found, near the site of his crashed plane, and the Pentagon insists he died in the crash.

What a shameful episode.  One of my high school classmates, Captain Bobby Jones, M.D. is still MIA in Vietnam after a cargo plane crash.  While his identification was found intact decades after the crash, there's been no trace of him.  I had hoped that the Pentagon treated its soldiers, sailors and Marines better, but it seems politics is as corrupt there as across the 14th Street bridge.

HorrorRetro

I was drifting off during the first guest, but I snapped awake when Knapp started talking about the next guest.  I remember hearing parts of this story years ago, and then it mostly disappeared.  I had to turn off the radio because I knew I would be wide awake listening all night, and having had a mostly sleepless weekend, I needed at least some sleep. I'll have to track down this show today.  Also, the guest seemed to have a hard time enunciating.  I had a very difficult time hearing about 1/3 of what she was saying, but what I did hear was very interesting.

Knapp mentioned last night that he will host c2c next Sunday as well (the rare 5th Sunday of the month) so he gets 3 Sundays this month.

That's good news.  I wish he was hosting EVERY Sunday, especially the first Sunday of the month abortion with Noory and the Submerging Artists.  Definitely enough to make your ears bleed.  :P

 George Knapp Shows
6/30/13

In the course of nearly five years of recorded interviews, Frank Sheeran confessed to investigative author Charles Brandt that he handled more than twenty-five hits for the mob. Brandt joins George Knapp to discuss Sheeran's fascinating story, including new information on Jimmy Hoffa's murder, and insights into American history.

George Knapp just did an hour on light pollution.  I have a hard time imagining Noory doing that interview without asking the same question over and over and getting bored after 15 minutes, going to open lines for the duration.

Rocker107

I'm glad that if at least Ian is not going to be on Sunday night anymore, Knapp is taking his place. Seems like an even trade.

Knapp just noted Noory's often mentioned interview of Jimmy Hoffa right before his death, and proposed that Noory should provide more details about that interview.
