A bit shocked that MGM fed Micky and Judy Garland amphetamines to keep them going.  Although, back then, I don't think people realized how dangerous that drug is.

Those were the days when physicians would recommend smoking a non-filtered chesterfield after work to relax.

No they didn't.  They just thought of them as pep pills that would only help not hurt the body.   Everybody took them if they needed a boost. The most extreme example of a movie studio enabling a bad addiction was the case of Wallace Reid who was a very big star in the late teens and early 20's.  He was in a train wreck on the way to location filming in Oregon.  He had a scalp wound that required 6 stitches and the wound caused great pain. Paramount had someone prescribe morphine so he could continue filming his movie.  That led to an addiction and he died in 1923 while trying to get off the drug in a sanitorium. Very sad.

It`s sad, Mick was reduced to doing those $5k burying money insurance commercials at the end of his life. He wasn`t all there, so he would basically just look and nod while his wife did the talking.

Birnes is good as always tonight.
Seems like C2C has more commercials than I remember in the past.

That Dave can't read or write? Heck, we already new that.
That was not the secret. The real fireworks came when it was revealed that he did not cook up the recipes in his own book.

That about sums up the show... I was surprised that I listened to the first guest start to finish as well.  Funny how a good host can keep you engaged.

Just Me

Bill Birnes and Knapp are a team. They follow on each others thoughts and snap answers back and forth. I'm glade Nancy wasn't invited  ???, not to be mean  >:(, but she would have interrupted Bill  :o every time he began to tell something hot off the press and there goes the magic, and Bill falling off the story.

I've missed a whole crapload of knapp shows... maybe somebody can pm me some useful info for finding them?

You mean Mickey Rooney, right? I think it was the Downingtown Inn, and don't know whether or not it failed.

Yes, I agree. That was a really fantastic show last night. I have been a Bill Birnes fan ever since I saw him on the first UFO Hunters show.  I kind of figured George Knapp would be a perfect fit for Bill.

Uncle Duke

One of the callers to Greenewald last night told of seeing Bluebook files in file cabinets at Maxwell AFB, Ala.  Was surprised John didn't know Maxwell is the home of the USAF Historical Agency.  If the caller was being truthful, that files from a former USAF project would be held at the Historical Agency seems perfectly reasonable.  Wonder if John has made a FOIA request to the Agency for any UFO information they might have?

Never been much of Bill Birnes fan where UFOs are concerned, but I did really enjoy his interview about his Mickey Rooney book.  What was the comment me made about "we solved the Black Dahlia case" using handwritting analysis?  Did he do a book on that famous murder?

HEY FIGHT THE FUTURE--

You been holding out on us.  How come you haven't told us about the UFO sighting/landing/alien training you (and every member of the US military "down to the lowest private") received when you first enter the service?

Re: Black Dahlia. This was a tough one to write and edit and basically look at. Very very disturbing.

Oh.  I read that book, seems like it was over ten years ago.  Just one of many claiming to have solved the case.

Maybe. Hodel ran into trouble with the existing claims, and there are many. Also, his strange connection to the killer actually harms his detective work because ... how can he be objective? You really should call into the show and bring this up, or better yet, why don't we have a show with Steve Hodel. It's been 10 years?!

Waste of time.  We all know Edward Wayne Edwards committed the Black Dahlia murder, as well as every other murder in the US for several decades.

I listened in bed last night since it was on terrestrial radio (so nice to be able to do that, too bad sNooron can't take more days off), and whenever Bill was talking I kept envisioning him wearing the Mirror-shade Aviator sunglasses, especially during the UFO segment.  Shows that I had an addiction to the UFO Hunters show.

Nancy, tell the truth, he was wearing them during his interview last night wasn't he?  I know I am a better remote viewer than Ed Dames!

Great show, far surpassed what I have come to expect from C2C over the past few years.  Good on both Knapp and Mr. Bill.

The author, John Cameron, has been on C2C at least twice claiming Edwards was a prolific serial killer who not only killed dozens of people, but set up innocent people to take the fall for the murders.

UFO Hunters was a good show. Hopefully, it will continue to make money in some for or another since it had quality production values.

He is always reluctant to take them off, as you surmised. He also has hundreds of hats. Bald pate, you know.

Well, my friend, you know I could tell you, but then I'd have to....well, you know...

Seriously, as you know, I have an interest in the subject that dates way back, even spanning  my time in the  service. I held a very high clearance, and always kept my eyes peeled --even tried to poke around a little bit as much as possible -- but never came across anything of real interest.

Hmm.  I'm looking around and see a Mount Airy something.
Whatever it was, it should have brought in some money.  He should not have died broke.
